Men's Pants - There Can Be Only One

Patagonia Terrebonne joggers. They're super lightweight, and hold up very well. They have been my go-to on two Caminos and a lot of backpacking trips.

    Sony ZV-1 camera and charging

You'll have no problem. I did this with my Sony a7c in 2022.

New shoes, lighter than older ones

GTX keeps water out, but it also traps heat and water in. In a heavy rainstorm or creek crossing, water is bound to get into the shoe up over the collar or seep through the GTX membrane over time. In this situation, it is better to have a shoe that will drain and dry quickly. Not a big deal on a...

New shoes, lighter than older ones

Let me know how you like the NNormal shoes. Did you go with the Tomir or Kjerag?

Food on the Camino, what do you miss?

I miss the raixo! So good after a long day of hiking.

    Where do ( did ) you walk ( locally ) in 2022?

I'll be walking the Ingles with my family this summer. Our first local training hike was on Catalina Island this March to shake out our gear selections.

Walking the way with a 6year old

Like you, I'll be walking with a soon to be 6 year old this summer. I also walked with a 2 year old four years ago! We're walking the Ingles in a very manageable 9 days to allow for ample breaks and multiple short days. I thought about a longer Camino with a kid carrier option, but wasn't able...

trail runners with wider toe box

For those that really like the Altra and Topo shoes but want a wide toebox insole/insert, I've found the Superfeet Trailblazer a great fit. I tried the Superfeet Carbon, Green, and Blue without much luck, and then found the Trailblazer by recommendation from PCT thru-hikers. The Lone Peak and...

    Lone Peak 6

Just picked up the Lone Peak 6 and really like them. Not a big change from the LP5, which is good news for most. The sizing feels the same to me, with the 6 maybe feeling a tad shorter. The lacing offers a more dialed in fit with an extra eyelet in the midfoot area. I'll probably wear the LP6 on...

My Video from the Camino Portugues Central via Porto

Thank you! It was a personal tonic for me to put it together in this difficult year. I'll be joining you in prayer for an effective vaccine, and for the many albergues, cafes, restaurants, and other Camino support businesses that have been impacted by Covid.

My Video from the Camino Portugues Central via Porto

Thanks, David. That first scene in the video was a cafe in Padron called Don Pepe II. The gentleman saying "Buen Camino" ran the cafe with his family. It is a very popular place for pilgrims. We started our walk early and were searching for a cafe along the Camino (we stayed a few blocks away...

My Video from the Camino Portugues Central via Porto

Hello pilgrim family, I walked the Camino Portugues with my family in 2018 and finally got around to editing the final video of our walk into Santiago. It was an amazing journey where we grew closer and met so many amazing people. I walked the Frances in 2012 solo, and was really looking...

My Video From The Camino Portuguese With A Toddler

Thank you! It was an incredible family experience, and so different from my solo Frances walk. The Camino has been such an incredible part of my life, and I couldn't wait for my son to grow up to share it with him. I'm glad he got to walk early, because he absolutely loved it and wants to go...

My Video From The Camino Portuguese With A Toddler

Buen Camino! I loved the Frances and hope to return soon. With my son turning three next year, I think we'll opt for the Ingles next. He'll want to walk a lot more on his own, and the short distance of the Ingles will work well for that. Maybe in a few years, he can handle the longer Frances route.

My Video From The Camino Portuguese With A Toddler

Thanks, Dave. I shot this with my Sony a7rii and a Zeiss Batis 18mm f/2.8 (I'm more of a photo guy). I used a Zhiyun crane v2 for the stabilized shots. I shot everything in 4k at 60fps so I could slow down the footage a bit and still export a 30fps video. The a7rii shoots 42mp still, so along...
