    Rain Skirts/Kilts/Aprons

    A kilt is my preferred wear when walking. I managed to ‘acquire’ a length of genuine goretex material and made myself a lousy weather kilt cover. It works a treat. In passing I would also report that a woollen kilt has built-in air-con if things get hot.

    Thanks for reply. I contacted the Way of St. Andrews way folk. Their reply to my specific queries was that I should consider another route or "hire someone to walk with me".

    Midges tend to lay low if there is more than a light breeze. If you are drawn to the Coastal walk you are pretty sure of breezes and, at times, stronger winds.     Try Vaseline or even better BAGBALM applied liberally before putting on your socks. Feels squishy for for the first few minutes but fine after that.
