I have walked both routes as a single female in May and not encountered any problems. I agree with the earlier posts, not more difficult, but the day from Lodeve I think it was, was very long and lonely through endless pines on forest roads. Each section was very beautiful, but just a little...
Since mine was an emergency decision, luckily I had a fairly large dry bag in my pack that could take the heavier stuff I wanted to send ahead. It worked fine for me.
Hello and thank you all for your suggestions. I only have two weeks this trips so haven't decided on a plan, will see what the weather is like on arrival, and the route etc and make it up as I go along! I will try and post any useful information I find out though.
Buen camino a todos
I am starting from Alicante in two weeks and wondered whether anyone had any recommendations for accommodation in or just outside the city on the camino? Albergue, hostal, casa rurale, pension......
Thank you
Buen camino
I walked the route the other way from Montpellier to Puenta la reina in April May last year and found it generally well marked, certainly in France the routes are marked in both directions. You should have no problem.
I walked this route in March last year and it rained heavily most days. I found the best combination for me was rain jacket, poncho, waterproof trousers and shorts. Even Goretex did not stay waterproof under the onslaught.
The march before was beautiful weather! Good luck!!
I walked solo from Oporto last spring, there very few pilgrims about and I was the only one in an albergue once, but I never felt unsafe. Everybody was very friendly, in Portugal particularly, that I met.
Very, very Happy Birthday Ivar, and very very many thanks for all you are doing to enable us to keep in contact with the camino with information and most importantly in spirit. Buen camino de la vida to you

Also, Serge at les jacobins in Cahors. The Miam...
When you see a marker that says 360 km to Santiago and your immediate reaction is 'oh no, it's nearly over' just another 15 days or so, and then laugh when you realise that 2 months ago you would never have thought this possible or measured time in this way.
It would be great to see you, and any others who can make it, all welcome!
And, just responding to the post from the South West, culture is optional extra, chat about the Camino will no doubt be the main event!
" Certain practical exercises will teach participants to figuratively «walk the Camino» & as a result will gain a deep understanding & appreciation as to the physical challenges involved in such an undertaking."
I'd love to know what these practical exercises are, do you think he takes you on a...
A few of us got together for an inaugural meet up in November and agreed to meet again on January 18 at the Sainsbury Centre in Norwich. Please come and join us!
Depending on the weather - 1100 for a walk around the lake or visit to the Masterpieces exhibition meet in the cafe behind the shop...
