No fear: there IS vegetarian food in Santiago

I end up at OK Wok on Rúa do Franco at least once every time I'm in Santiago. It's really easy to make a vegetarian or vegan friendly noodle order there, and they're attentive to potential issues with sauces and eggs.

    Is americanpilgrims.org still functioning?

They posted this message 12 days ago in their Facebook group...

Are there Book swaps on the Camino. What book would you take.

I was thinking just a couple weeks ago about how, in the age of kindle, I kind of miss the serendipity and joy of stumbling across a book in the wild. I was in Campiello on the Camino Primitivo, remembering how maybe a decade earlier someone had abandoned Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go at Casa...

Heading back out on the American Discovery Trail in late June

@billandjothorne - Yep, it's on Spotify and Apple, among others. No chance I'll finish the series in time for you, but I hope that the first two episodes might be useful! @ChrisAP - Thanks for the tip! I definitely would have missed the pavilion. Laramie is way north of where I'll be crossing...

Heading back out on the American Discovery Trail in late June

I started doing a separate podcast for this, back in the before-times. Got six episodes out and will definitely return to it, though I don't know if that will happen before departure in June: I'll definitely have more Camino Podcast episodes, though, including a Camino Primitivo series. Will...

Heading back out on the American Discovery Trail in late June

I started walking the American Discovery Trail back in 2019. My plan was to walk the southern option between Cincinnati, Ohio and Denver, Colorado that fall, and then to fly to Delaware in February 2020 and make the full coast-to-coast walk, including the northern option between Ohio and Denver...

    Via della Costa

Check out the Ruta do Mar section of the forum! Lots of good info there: https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/forums/ruta-del-mar-ribadeo-ferrol.112/ I haven't done the lighthouse trail, but I really enjoy the Mar/Cantábrico. Tons of good coastal walking.

    Via della Costa

Very glad to read your write-up! I'm expecting to spend at least a few days on this, walking from Genoa southward, and haven't encountered many accounts from the trail. Thanks for sharing. Let me know if you have any questions about the Mar/Cantábrico.

Alternative Routes - Betanzos to Bruma

I've written up both of those options here: https://davewhitson.com/index.php/2023/09/17/the-old-camino-ingles-options/ I strongly recommend the "old" route from Cos to Presedo. I prefer the newer route from Leiro to Bruma.

Three Variants Worth Considering Near Avilés and Luarca

It's an absolute no-brainer! I can't encourage people to go for that one strongly enough. Spread the word!

    Snowfall in the Roncesvalles area

Not the classic "spring break," I grant you, but I'll take it.

    Snowfall in the Roncesvalles area

A snowy, windy day crossing the Puerto del Acebo on the Camino Primitivo today, too! (I'll take that over rain pretty much any time.)

Camino de Madrid Trip Report - March 2023

I get one week off for spring break, so I hit a camino, try to walk a long ways, and see where I end up. Pulling the same trick on the Primitivo right now. Two days in, arrived in Campiello today. I'll try to reach Santiago by Saturday, but if I'm miserable, I'll dial it back and be happy with...

Three Variants Worth Considering Near Avilés and Luarca

Glad to hear it! And agreed, do it with the gps, for sure.

Salinas on the Camino Norte - when was route changed?

Incidentally, if you have the time, I recommend a variant from Salinas! https://davewhitson.com/index.php/2023/09/03/three-variants-worth-considering-on-the-camino-del-norte-near-aviles-and-luarca/
