Mine was also a knee injury, which led to a hobble, which then led to a sore hip. I use them every time I hike now. I’m very lucky that my injuries were not permanent!

I walked starting Leon mid October last year and it was cold in the morning but very hot by mid-day. There was snow in the mountains, but it was incredibly beautiful. Buen Camino!
I HIGHLY recommend taking the alternative route from Virgen del Camino. It's very picturesque (It's the path that heads to the left just past the modern church).
