• We are struggeling with some issues with images and attachments not loading on the forum. This is some left-over problems from the other day. We have back-ups of everything, so nothing is lost, we just need to link things up again so that it works. In short, we are working on it. Sorry! Ivar

    Journaling on the Camino

Slightly OT, but two mates of mine got back from a round the world trip recently and had taken one of them new-old-fangled Polaroid cameras and had taken "1 photo per day". This meant that they had a really nice little album with 40 photos in that you could look at and get a really good feel for...

    Stop Spraying Lavender Oil!

I'm bored so I'm looking at stuff. It's the Dry Oil that's the ticket rather than the many other types. It's not an urban myth that the military use it. However there are better options, with deet - that are a less nice. It costs so little, I'd try it, if it doesnt work, bin it...Just don't...

    Stop Spraying Lavender Oil!

Not sure that's true. Thought maybe Spanish flying insects have different tastes to Scottish ones. Although rumours are that they ve changed the formula now so it's less effective. However, see here - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2045813

Kilts for Men - Clothing insights for the Newbie

Dax's supplier has been very useful... However, FYI, I've emailed Mountain Hardware to see if that's the end of the run and it's looking hopeful. However, us euro's may have to order from US (like REI...) Unfortunately, I don't think it's going to work before I head out but for summer...

    Walking Boots Vs. Trail Runners

I would add, don't forget that 50%* of the fit of the boots is in the insole. Always buy a proper insole!! (*percentage totally made up)

    Walking Boots Vs. Trail Runners

I've bought myself some of these - https://www.thenorthface.com/shop/shoes-mens-hiking/mens-ultra-fastpack-iii-mid-gtx-nf0a39iq?variationId=4EP#hero=0 They re basically trail runners with a little ankle support. Genuinley finding them the best of both worlds right now. I like a bit of ankle...

    Electric Bike Camino Frances

Now, I'm a cyclist so I find it hard to accept that cyclists shouldnt count as pilgrims. However, I also toally understand that for a lot of cyclists it's about "making the trip" rather than any spiritual reason. Particularly so with the new bikepacking fad (of which I'm a fan) which is about...

Kilts for Men - Clothing insights for the Newbie

I'm genuinely concerned looking at the MH website that they may not be making them anymore :(

Kilts for Men - Clothing insights for the Newbie

I've never thought about anything close to this before ever but now I've seen this - https://www.mountainhardwear.com/mens-elkommando-utility-kilt-OM3417.html - I want one more than I want to do the camino! I'm Cornish too, I could pull it off! Might see you there Dax!

    Stop Spraying Lavender Oil!

I thought of suggesting a deliberately off-hand comedic remark to them to perhaps hint that their behaviour is not fantastic... However, I'm still sat here 5 minutes later trying to think of a lavender based joke...

An attempt at a secular Grand Camino Theory of Everything

@Purky I think we're violently agreeing with each other mate! Part of a pilgrimage was a certain amount of hardship to "purify the soul" (I'm sure better phrases are available). I think what you show is that there is much more to it than "just" that!
