    That's my experience too. I've never hitch hiked in the US, but I have in France on Le Puy route twice and they were so kind and gracious.

    I did this in 2021. The other option is to take La Malle Postale from Conques to Figeac and take a train from Figeac to Paris. Fi geac is one if my favorite towns on the Via Podiensis.

    I took a silk liner walking in late April and all of May. There were times it was cold but I wore my clothes when needed, but 95 percent of the time I could ask for a blanket and they would give me one, so it wasn't a problem for me.

    Best all purpose soap

    I used Camp Suds for showering and washing clothes, it is concentrated and about 4 oz and lasted me for 32 days. I did not use it on my hair, I brought shampoo and conditioner because all-purpose soap is very drying to your hair.

    Does anyone wear gloves for sweaty hands on hiking poles?

    That looks good too. Here is a photo of what my pole looks like with cooling towel. Even if my hands don't swell they still feel better with this material on them. I love my poles so much but if I didn't have a solution to the hand sweating I wouldn't wear them.
