Alert to Women Pilgrims about Capilla del Cantu - Asturias, just after Cantabria

Dear Fellow Pilgrims, Thank you for your responses, concern, and compassion. I want to reassure everyone that I am okay and that my intention in posting here is to protect and alert others who may seek information before going on the Camino del Norte. I read the alerts from others before...

Alert to Women Pilgrims about Capilla del Cantu - Asturias, just after Cantabria

Dear Pilgrms, I have just returned from the Camino del Norte and enjoyed this route very much, hard though it is. I am writing today to alert other pilgrims about my experience at Capilla del Cantu just as one enters Asturias. A Google search brings up good pictures of this very little chapel...

Does anyone know how to get to this albergue from the Biarritz Airport? Staying my first night and would like to know how best to arrive there.

Hot off the presses — Guide 2019

Hi Peregrina2000, I definitely want to. I have already begun semi-planning for it. I wish you the best journey and will hope to hear about it in the forum. Thanks for all the info on the alternative routes. I hope to take all or some. Weather isn't looking nice for the mountain climb when I...

Hot off the presses — Guide 2019

It's going to be difficult not to detour off the Camino del Norte when I start next week. Thanks for posting. How beautiful.

Anyone have experience starting the Camino in Biarritz? Advice?

BiarritzDon- Le Puy to Cahors was a lovely walk. A lot of up and down. Expect shorter stages than Frances for sure. The countryside was beautiful and memorable. I was sorry to leave it after less than two weeks time.

Anyone have experience starting the Camino in Biarritz? Advice?

Yes, flying into Biarritz, arriving in the early evening around 6 pm. Thought about taking a bus whatever transportation possible to Ciboure, stay overnight and then walking the coastal alternative into Hondarribia (ferry) and then onward.

Anyone have experience starting the Camino in Biarritz? Advice?

Thanks! Good to know. I'm struggling to decide where exactly to start the walk. Irun/Ciboure/Biarritz/Hondarribia...too many choices. Time is ticking.

Anyone have experience starting the Camino in Biarritz? Advice?

Thank you again for some great advice. I didn't calculate correctly I realize. Biarritz to Hondaribbia is quite the full day. I was hoping to avoid the urban way through Irun and stay on the coast all the way in to Hondaribbia, but now need to rethink that plan in favor of a Spanish Sim card...

Anyone have experience starting the Camino in Biarritz? Advice?

Dear Forum, I'm thinking of starting in Biarritz instead of Irun as I have time and will, after all, be landing there. I have the French book, Rando edition, which starts in Bayonne, so it seems very possible, but it is dated: 2006. My goal, in this case, is planning the first stage from...

    Camino Norte- 5/23

Thanks! Yes I am worried about that! I am not looking for brutal, but I am concerned about getting into Biarritz at 6 pm on the 23 and no room in the Irun Albergue. Thought it would be nice to start from Ciboure and walk along the coast, but that adds distance, etc. *sigh*

    Camino Norte- 5/23

Excited to walk the Camino del Norte in about two weeks. Still figuring out where to start from: Irun, or Ciboure perhaps, and alternate routes here and there. Thinking of a first day of Ciboure to Pasajes, but that might be further than I expect. Welcome thoughts on that if anyone knows. I...

Suggestions for place to stay in Irun/San Sebastian

I'll be arriving in Biarritz around 6 pm on May 23, which means it is likely the albergue will be full by then. It seems wise to book a pension or room somewhere, but I am not sure in relation to where the bus is going to let me off where best to do so. Does anyone have some suggestions...

    Irun?

Can you recommend a pension in Irun?

    Necessary to book in advance?

Thanks to all for this splendid information. Pasajes is looking like a good idea for breaking up the first day after climbing and descending with possible jetlag. I will play it by feel when I arrive. Now to find a place in Irun for the evening arrival.
