Nicknaming the People You Walk With

One was our “Shadow,” another “Lavender Boy” (he handed out sprigs of dried lavender and, play on words, we ran in to him twice in regard to laundry ~ once at a lavandería and again at a restaurant where he asked us to make change for the laundromat)

Help! Pack too heavy! — CF Sept & Oct — Senior Woman

I agree with the suggestions here for streamlining your clothing list. Our packs were too heavy at beginning of our first Camino and we ended up sending a box ahead from Correos in Burgos to SdC. I am in my mid-60's and have arthritis in my right knee and possible knee tears that have not been...

What made you pick your 2nd or next camino choice?

I just completed my first Camino which was also my second Camino. Last year I walked SJPP to Sarria with a friend and had to stop due to tibial tendonitis. This year I walked Triacastela via Samos to SdeC with a different friend to complete my Frances. It was also, tho, a completely different...

    Transport from Santiago to sarria

I sent an email inquiry to Monbus and they responded that they do the scheduling and sales month by month. They said to look for the June schedule toward the end of May. (I had thought there might be some problem with my browser only showing May, but no). I trust the June schedule will come up...

Tell me your “everything is going haywire on my Camino” stories

Last June ~ off-road as of Sarria with tibial tendonitis and still testing very light pink for Covid ~ bussed and taxied and met up with family and friends each evening ~ had a wonderful PT treatment in Arzua ~ it's all part of the Camino ~ I return this June to do Triacastela~Samos~Santiago ~

Dull, boring, urban and sketchy (sketchy?)

If my walking mate and I had not walked through ~ and indeed stayed in ~ Villadongos del Paramo ~ essentially a truck stop ~ we would not have met our best buddies on the Camino ~ everyone's Camino is different; for me, the most memorable and profound aspects of the walk were not always the...

    Down jacket or No?

I brought a lightweight puff jacket (synthetic, not down) and used it often in the early mornings. I also had a lightweight fleece jacket to start out, but ended up sending it ahead to Santiago, didn't need it. So my layers were quick-dry T-shirt, long-sleeved cotton sun shirt, the lightweight...

    Train connection Madrid

I arrive at Barajas on direct flight from US at 6:30 AM w/ checked baggage. Can I make the 10:30 train to Santiago? Or would it be better to plan on taking the afternoon train (1:15?)? Can I purchase a ticket that would be valid on either? Or do I need to lock into a specific time? Thanks ~

    Restaurants between Sarria and Santiago

Where did you stay in Castromaior? We passed thru there last year and I would love to stay overnight there this year.
