No room at the inn (Najera)

Apologies, I meant bed not a room.

No room at the inn (Najera)

I had a hard time finding a room in Najera many years ago. I’d guesstimate I arrived mid-afternoon along with another Camino lass. We were both exhausted and couldn’t walk anymore. We had to split up and each try to secure a room because everything was booked. I eventually found a room through...

I did it- and feel like a winna!

Reading your post made me laugh and then I cried. I love your journey, attitude and thoughts to pen. May you continue your life’s journey with the same spirit and spirit walking beside you. You are a beautiful soul and I hope you continue to write.

Listening to Music/Audiobooks/Podcasts while making the pilgrimage?

One of my most memorable experiences on The Camino was a volunteer albergue manager in Tosantos sharing with me that I was getting blisters on my feet because I was not listening to messages from God while I walked because I was being distracted by listening to music on my Ipod. The quick...

Please talk me off the ledge

Hey there! So happy for you and thanks for keeping all of us posted! Love your mug and your friends! You are an inspiration to me! Buen Camino!

Please talk me off the ledge

Hey again! I'm glad you started your journey out of Leon! I forgot starting in a larger city could likely make one feel very uncomfortable bc the pilgrims are hard to identify amongst all the locals. And simply being in a foreign county, let alone a foreign city, can make anyone feel very...

Please talk me off the ledge

Hi again, I hope today was a better day for you! You won't be trapped. Spain has a lot of resources/modes of transportation to get you anywhere you need to go. Like the others shared above, www.rome2rio.com is a great resource. I used it myself and I also just asked others for help. It was...

Please talk me off the ledge

Hey there! First, I'm sorry you are feeling anxious. Getting stuck in your head sucks. But the good news is with a little bit of determination and perseverance, you won't stay there for long. I feel quite confident if you can board a plane to Spain and make it to your albergue, then you can...

Returning to CF after 6 years, anything new I must take into account?

Thank you everyone! The use of electronics to pre-book does seem a bit alarming and will be new for me, but I'm still going to go with the flow and see how the day unfolds each day. I'm excited!!!

Returning to CF after 6 years, anything new I must take into account?

I will commence in Carrion de Los Condes sometime September. What, if anything, do I need to take into account this time around or would I find helpful? I do not plan to pre-book stays unless I learn while on route it is imperative. Honestly, I don't want to overthink this trip. I just want...

Mid 70 Male & Potential Issues

I would not worry about waking up other pilgrims to go to the bathroom. A walk to the bathroom is far less noisy - if even noisy at all - than all the snoring that goes on in the albergues. Most pilgrims likely sleep with earplugs anyway. Enjoy the journey and just be you! Buen Camino!

John Brierley is seriously ill - an invitation to send messages of thanks and support.

Mr. Brierley, I have moved several times since I trekked The Camino in 2017. I have given away so many possessions, literally all of my furnishings, clothes, books, and more, but not once did I ever think to part with my John Brierley book. It is truly one of the few things that I will not...

LIVE from the Camino Last Day Walking Blues

I think what you are feeling is a natural and actually a part of the Camino experience. The Camino teaches us so many life lessons and the lessons are often personal and come with reflection. Maybe one of the lessons here for you is learning how to say goodbye and being grateful for the time and...

    I'm so discouraged!

For what this is worth..... I walked half of The Camino a few years back. On one part of the journey, I recall meeting a fellow Pelegrina along the way and I enjoyed the chat we were having while walking to the next town together. For whatever reason, I chose not to stop to change my...
