Great thank you! We were just a bit bummed (I mean, one can't be too bummed walking the Camino!), but we found it harder to find our Camino family, until we reached Santiago, and the 'vibe' was so different from what we were accustomed to - I'm sure y'all know what I mean. :)
My mom and I are walking the Frances again this year. Sarria was a challenge for us the first time we walked due to such a drastic change in the amount of people and the large groups; obviously, we avoided this on our walk from Porto. Do you have suggestions for me on how to research the...
I’m a gf vegetarian and had no problem staying full on the CF. Spanish tortilla, cafe con leche, and oj were a typical breakfast. Gazpacho or salad - you must state ‘no atun’ - for lunch. And every place we ate for dinner had a veggie, gf option. All the albergues were super gracious in making...
I leave for Lisbon tomorrow and have been crossing my fingers that no new restrictions are put in place. At this point, I feel pretty confident that it’s a go. Not feeling so confident about my ability to walk 15 miles a day! 🤣 I’ll be training as I go!
I have plans to do the Portugal Way in August, but am waiting a few weeks to figure out if we need to cancel. We will be traveling from the US as well.
Hi @Dave- it looks like Gresham, OR is one of your planned stops. I would be happy to host you here (if I’m not on the Camino at that time). If I am unavailable, I would be more than happy to help you find a welcoming place to stay.

Calzadilla 2017 in my Purple Rain skirt! I can’t say enough about how well this skirt worked for me > big, secure pockets, yoga style waist band, and it made the frequent nature pee less awkward than my shorts did. I plan to bring two on my next Camino and skip the shorts altogether.
Yes! I remember being a little angry thinking about all of the extra steps I was taking just to cross the tracks. :p The bridge heading into Portomarin was a little scary for me - I wanted to walk with my eyes closed but knew better than to take my eyes off the road!
We enjoyed the festivities in Santiago from the roof of our hotel this evening. We had a great view of the fireworks and the show looked amazing ( they streamed the show live on tv). We wished, however, that we were down with the crowd. We feel very fortunate to have finished our Camino just...
Hi Terry - I just finished the CF yesterday (still in Santiago right now)! Nerves are definitely to be expected at first, but don't worry, you'll get into the routine, you'll realize you really can do it, and you will meet some wonderful people. Your nerves will happily be replaced by talking...
I'm using the Gregory Maven 35l right now on the Camino (3 days from Santiago!) and I've been very happy with it! I hope your new Gregory will be a good replacement for your old pack. And how exciting that you are walking again. Good luck and Buen Camino!
