Help! Pack too heavy! — CF Sept & Oct — Senior Woman

I’d ditch the Keen sandals. I’ve got a pans they’re great for cycling but walking on stones which easily get into your sandals and under your feet becomes a nuisance. I also found that they need constant cleaning on the inside otherwise they smell.

I can't remember the name of the place but I'm sure someone will

I walked through this place and stopped for a bite to eat in April 2016. I'm hoping it's enjoyed a bit of restoration since then. Sadly for the life of me I can't remember the name of the place but I'm sure someone will. The sun was just peeking through the grey sky as it was early morning.

What are YOUR Favourite Spanish Words?

Sorry to contradict but listen to the staff on the butchery dept at Carrefour in Torrevieja or the market traders in Playa Flamenca market and you will definitely hear boyo!

So excited you could not sleep? Any Camino-inspired relaxation tips?

To relax and drop off to sleep just breath in, through your nose very slowly to the count of 6, 7 or 8 dependent on how good your lung capacity is. Hold it for a second and then breath out, through your mouth, slowly for a similar length of time. Repeat again and again keeping a regular count...

What are YOUR Favourite Spanish Words?

Pronounced Boyo but written Pollo. Chicken. Patatas Fritas = chips. Gratuito is a useful word to know. It means free. Un vino tinto = one red wine Dos vinos tintos = two red wines. My favourite "Hablas inglès por favor?" You always get "Un poco" ( little) or "un poquito" (a tiny little bit)...

Bucket List - What we must plan to not miss on the Way?

Alun26, don't apologise for your query. There are a few people on the website that are of the opinion that there way of doing things is the only way of doing things. Remember "It's your camino!" You do it however you want. There is no wrong or right way. The chances are that you will not be...

Bucket List - What we must plan to not miss on the Way?

Calle Laurel in Logroño was something that I missed on my Camino and can heartily recommend as others have already done. I visited it several times last month on my drive home from the Costa Blanca to Bilbao. Pulpo a la Gallega is a gastronomic treat.(I know someone else has mentioned it too. A...

Research about the Camino OFF this website!!

Having visited Laurel Calle a couple or more times whislt in Logroño I can heartily recommend it to tourists passing through. The street isn't massively long or wide but what it does have is wall to wall tapas bars each with there own special offering. One bar we went to sold no food other than...

St Jean to Roncesvalles One Day or Two?

I would recommend the overnight stay in Orisson, it is a pretty steep climb up from Saint Jean Pied de Port and although if you set off early and are prepared to crack on you can easily manage Roncesvalles in one stop, there is no rush! I was warned by a friend that had done the route in April...

    Coffee in Spain

Black coffee is "cafe solo". White coffee is "cafe con leche". Coffee with just a spot of milk is "cafe cortado" coffee with a big splash of brandy is "cafe carajillo". Try and learn how to pronounce them properly before you set off.

If you want to take 4 rest days on the CF, where would you stop?

Logroño, just so that you can have two nights sampling the joys of Calle Laurel! This place is an absolute joy. I missed it on my Camino but caught up with it this week. The street is just Tapas bars. One of them specializes in just selling mushrooms grilled with olive oil, absolutely delicious...

Camino as a source of joy

Not only was it a joy walking the Camino, it was a privilege.

    Camino coffee

In the morning, instead of toast ask for a "croissant de la plancha". They will get one of their massive croissants, slice it horizontally in two, slop on some butter, place the cut side down on the heated grill plate and then put a dinner plate on top to squash them slightly. Ask for some...
