I transported my bike on Alsa this year when it was very cold, windy and raining horizontally on the meseta. Alsa sells bags at the ticket counter. They cost about 8 euros. You take the front wheel off and put it all in their bag, and Bob's your uncle. If they don't have any at the ticket...
Yes, the Sea to Summit bag turned out to be very valuable. The only criticism I would have of it, is that should have a small buckle attached to the straps so you can buckle it across your chest. I missed this. But it was worth its weight in gold!
I made this trip alone, starting in Pamplona from May 12 to June 5, 2014 on a MTB that I rented from Bikeiberia.
The bike was delivered to my hotel on time as promised. There were small issues with the bike including a non functioning bell, really worn handle grips with the handle bar metal...
Greetings,
Does anyone know a friendly bike shop that I could drop off my rental bike at in Santiago? It will be picked up by the bike rental company before my departure from Santiago. English speaking would be even better.
Thanks, Gary
I've been training on my Mountain bike for a long time, and well, while climbing hills is getting a little better, I'm afraid my youth has long gone. So, I understand there are a couple of approx. 16k stretches, one starting just before Rabanal. Can someone please tell me what the grade of...
Hey Falcon, the shoulders look great, and superior to the Campanas route. But is there an easy way to get on this caraterra? It just looks like a lot of spaghetti and confusing to me trying to get out of Pamplona compared to the other route which seems quite simple to get on.
Okay, thanks, in your opinion then, which is the safer route? I see that the caraterra has a shoulder but with more traffic. The Campanas route for a large part of it, has no shoulder, but it appears to have a lot less traffic.
From Cizur Menor walk SE on NA6000 roughly 14k to Campanas, then on NA121 SE to Muruarte de Reta on NA601 to join the Camino Aragonese. Continue W 10k to the splendid circular Romanesque church at Eunate and 4k further to Puente la Reina on the Camino Frances.
Yes, thanks very much Margaret. The walk around that you provided for Alto de Perdon appears to be wonderful. Quiet country roads. A lot with shoulder, a lot without shoulder. But not a hill in sight. Perfect.
I see that very experienced pilgrim has provided details for a walk around for this challenge. This makes perfect sense to me. I have always been a risk taker until I flew my paraglider into a cliff and broke both ankles. Now I am a little more gun shy! I will be on a Mountain bike starting...
Hi, I'm just wondering what has been your experience trying to get accommodation with the albergues being on a bike. I understand that you have to wait till 8 pm at a lot of these places?
If this is the general experience then I think I would try the hostel accomodation instead.
Thanks...
