I'm flying from Dublin to Biarritz, landing at 15:25 on RyanAir. Does anyone want to share a ride? I already checked with Express Bourricot and they don't have a van scheduled yet. They can schedule one at a cost of 130€. The van carries up to 8 people, lowering the price to 19€ per person.
Very true! And Vueling has a habit of canceling flights on short notice. My plans would include several days exploring Amsterdam. I am absolutely NOT comfortable doing a self-connect that involves same day International travel (or even next day travel, in the case of Vueling!)
Funny that you should post this just now as I spent yesterday looking at the same thing!! Thinking of a May/April Camino, flying out of Vancouver. Found flights to Paris to be the best price and tried all sorts of return flights (Porto, Madrid, Dublin, and Paris). Ended up finding that the...
Love Love Love my Salomon trail runners. I've been through 3 pairs now. Mine made it the entire 800k plus some. Used on 2 or 3 caminos. I haven't had this particular model, however. All in all, I think you won't go wrong with Salomon trail runners.
Wow!! I'd never heard of coupon codes for airlines! Finally found the page where I could enter it (it's a bit hidden), and sadly it didn't recognize this code. Thank you so much for enlightening me however. I'll look for coupon codes in the future. By the way how did you find this one...
I found this image linked to a website called www.nomadsnoworries.com. That doesn't seem to be a live website anymore, but maybe someone here knows who they are.
Looks like you have plenty of official answers to your question. Thought I'd add a different suggestion. If you walk just a bit longer each day you can shorten the number of days to reach Santiago. An average of 32 days to walk from SJPdP, could be shortened to 30 days by adding just one...
On our first Camino, we took 32 days from St. Jean to Santiago, including an extra day in Leon. Then about 8 days from Santiago to Finisterre and Muxia, including a couple of stopover days. My husband and I were in our 50's and 60's and not particularly fit. I'd highly recommend starting in...
I just spotted this article on the Cammino Basiliano, a new, 1500 km Camino in Southern Italy. Thought I'd share it here in case it's of interest. (is posting a link like this OK?)...
You might consider using TrustedHouseSitters. There is no charge for house/pet sitting, it's more of an exchange type situation, however, you pay an annual fee of $129. There is no limit to the number of times/days you use it. Basically, you register on the website as either a pet/house owner...
I've used the Marmot Kompressor Plus 20 pack on 3 Caminos and 2 other long distance hikes and loved it!! 20 liter capacity and weighs 13 ounces. My total pack weight was about 8-9 pounds (without water). Oh, and it's only about $45. I'd highly recommend this pack for ultralight weight walkers.
@wisepilgrim Any idea when the new Norte App will be out. I already have the book, but want the app so that I will have the GPS portion. You mentioned back in March that it was coming soon. Thanks!!!
Any recommendations for GPX tracks for the Norte? Are there any that include both the official route PLUS the alternatives? One file for the entire Norte rather than individual stages? Also, what is your favorite offline map app to use when hiking? I've used OsmAnd and have liked it, but...
