As a first timer last year I agree with the tips though 6-7 kgs was probably still a bit too heavy for me...I'm a small shortie but cant see how I could have possibly gone with less. Anyway one extra tip from me would be to make sure your weight is evenly distributed. I couldn't work out why I...
Hallo all south coast dwellers....well what a surprise....am feeling quite homesick now.....am back in UK on an extended working holiday and thought I would finish my Camino next May while I am still in this part of the world. I met only five Aussies in four weeks!! My home is in Nowra. My...
Hi, this is Jo also from south coast of NSW. Just finished my first (part) Camino two weeks ago thanks mainly due to the wonderful support and encouragement from this forum that I did it at all. I only heard about the Camino last July and was very confronted by the idea of walking over the...
Hi Everyone
I have to report that I did 7.5 km hike with back pack and new boots were sooooo comfortable I fairly flew along. With only three days to go I am still trying to reduce weight and wonder if I really need gaiters (375 gms) and will plastic bags and elastic bands do instead

I am just blown away by all the support and encouragement on this forum...you are all amazing. Thank you. Well my little toe blister seems to have had a speedy healing and I have the boots on and walking around the house with them.....will venture out later with back pack. Certainly seems to...
Thank you so much for all your ideas and encouragement. I had the bright idea yesterday of taking out the inner sole and putting in a thinner sole (BIG MISTAKE) I put on one pair of socks with some Vaseline and came home near crippled after only 7 kms walk. I ended up with a blister on my...
I am horrified to discover that by boots suddenly seem to be too small. I bought them last year when I was in Canada....they are a Keens brand but I didnt know about liner socks then and only tried them on with one wooly pair....they are half a size bigger than my normal size. They have been...
Oh...does anyone know if the taxi/bus picks up from Orrison...I managed to get the last bed there to crash out before embarking on the rest of the climb but would be good if there is a choice.
Jo
Well the best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry!! My plans have changed and can now only do two weeks walk so have changed starting point from Burgos to St Jean and finish at Burgos
Question: I have just received my Pilgrims record from the UK Confraternity which...
I certainly empathise with all those feeling deflated just now. The long dress rehearsals and then cancelled concert certainly struck a chord. I feel like the ash cloud has settled on me and burst my bubble. For me I have two weeks to go ...I am in UK but my dear friend and walking companion...
No error msg Ivar....just wont connect through, then it times out and says something like' cant connect, check internet connection' which is OK. Even downloaded Firefox and no difference...my co-worker here managed to get it after a second attempt so maybe something to do with my laptop...
I have been trying to get through to the ALSA website for the last 10 days...I have checked the timetables out before so dont understand what the problem might be...is anyone else having problems.
Jo
Oh thank you Pat...that was really helpful.....I wonder how much I could expect to pay for a taxi...I read it is best to agree on a price before you start but i have no confidence in my spanish to be able to do that. I may well get a taxi and head straight for Burgos as I have booked a hotel...
After repeated attempts at trying to get the Alsa.es web site I give up. Must be something about my lap top as my co-worker can get it on hers. Anyway looks like I will go the way of spontaneity Annie I suspect something I will be learning more and more of along the Way......assuming the...
