    Camino Ingles this September

Re: Camino Ingles this September-I made it! Well I made it!-- the 65 year old grannny with arthritic knees, no Spanish and a hopeless sense of direction finally made it to Santiago from Ferrol.Johnny Walker's revised Guide just came out in time and was enormously helpful. I left Ferrol on...

    I will start this friday!

Goodness something else to be nervous about apart from the hill to Bruma, the length of the etapas and the challenge of language.. I have bought an elctronic dog repeller- does anyone have any experience with these? I have not been able to try it out on neighbourhood dogs for obvious reasons- I...

    Camino Ingles July 2008

Fran- what a lovely post and so encouraging for a woman planning to do this alone as I am. Lots of helpful information and tips. However I plan to take it more slowly when I do the Camino in September, so that I will not be walking such long days and stopping more frequently. Thanks for the...

Sil- Thanks for the advice--if bought in Spain will the shell have some means of attaching it to my pack? Anne

    Scallop Shell

My local fishmonger has only had scallops off the shell for weeks now. Suggestions please about where one gets a scallop shell- I really would like to wear this traditional badge of the pilgrim all along my route. I will be walking the Camino Ingles in September. Hastings1066

    Albergues Neda and Mino

Thanks Peter for the helpful clarification. The section Betanzos to Hospital de Bruma is going to be my biggest challenge and you have given me some more options to consider Anne

    Albergues Neda and Mino

Dear Peter- this exchange of posts has been really helpful. At the risk of belabouring the point about my 60+ year old knees, I really doubt I can tackle the etapa Betanzos and up the hill to Hospital de Bruma in one day. Slightly furtively I was planning to have a taxi pick me up in Leira...

    Just a little bit scared

Dear Fran- I am just a little scared too but do find it encouraging to learn from other's experiences. It would be great if you could do a post when you successfully complete the Camino-- with 60 year old knees I am especially worried about the trek up the hill to Hospital de Bruma! Anne

    Camino Ingles this September

Dear Rebekah- this is really great- encouraging but slightly daunting too! Especially regarding the poor way marking since I am someone with a hopeless sense of direction. Anyway I am working on my fitness, doing the BBC Spanish Steps basics course, and intend to have with me every guide...

    Hair

Alson Raju in her Tips for Pilgrims says get a crew cut! I slightly blanched at that but am getting my hair cut progressivley shorter as I prepare forthe Camino Ingles in September. For me the great liberation will be to dispense with a hair dryer!

    Camino Ingles this September

Hello everyone- I am planning to walk the Camino Ingles in September to celebrate the birth of my first grandchild-- and go on to Finisterre. Has anyone any updates to Bill Murphy's great post of two years ago--and resolved the issue of exactly how far it is from Betanzos to Hospital to Bruma...
