    Olvidado Albergues with Kitchens

I can confirm that the Cistierna albergue still has very little kitchen equipment as of April 2019. I'd heard that the albergue in Cervera de Pisuera (Rivera de Pisuerga?) closed last fall and it no longer appears on the lodging list at https://caminoolvidado.com/etapa8/. I hope it's just a...

    Puente Almuhey albergue closed

There's a Spanish Facebook group that has been pretty active the last day or two with news of closed albergues in Vegavercera and Boñar as well, but it sounds like those are maybe more temporary closures. Still likely to be closed when you pass through, though.

    Puente Almuhey albergue closed

I know! It was a nice little place and the fact that it was free was a big selling point, especially given the lack of albergues in other towns on the route. But there seems to have been a complaint and it wasn't operating completely within all the regulations, so they closed instead of facing a...

GPS tracks needed to walk Olvidado?

I wanted to pop back in to thank Mick and Alan for weighing in and provide a couple of updates. I did write my "following" sentence in a confusing way - I wasn't on the trail until April, but was watching the facebook and instagram postings of people who were out in March, as well as following...

GPS tracks needed to walk Olvidado?

Hi Laurie, Thanks so much for your response! I'm starting from Bilbao and only walking 10-11 days, aiming to get to Puente Almuhey or Cistierna. I'd love to take the mountain alternative if the weather holds, but you've convinced me I need to learn to use the wikiloc tracks or stick to the...

GPS tracks needed to walk Olvidado?

Hi all, I'm planning to walk the Olvidado in early April and I have the various guides and info sheets that have been referenced, but I'm also seeing a lot of references to tracks. For those who have been on this route recently, do I need to have the tracks or would I be ok just following the...

    Lebaniego in fall?

I wanted to check back in and thank you all for your advice and let you know how it went. I got extremely lucky with the weather and the November 1 holiday making it feasible to get to Potes, although I wasn't able to make it to Espinama because of my timeline. Far from being an isolated route...

    Lebaniego in fall?

Thanks for the insight! I'm definitely not going past Potes - while I'd love to do the Vad at some point, that will be a late summer trip and not solo.

    Lebaniego in fall?

Hi all, Does anyone have experience with the Lebaniego outside of summer? I'm considering a detour from the Norte down to Potes around the end of this month and wondering if that's reasonable or completely insane. Thanks, Heather
