Cat, I wore thin white gloves on both my summer Camino and they work very well.
Not only do they assist in gripping the poles, as they can be rinsed at almost every water source and dry in minutes, they also make a great face wipe, spec cleaners. I already had a pair of white cotton military...
Why bring a suitcase, you're not too clear on this point. Are you packing your backpack in a suitcase for the flight? If so, use a cardboard packing box, same size. take tape to seal it up after customs check and dump it in a bin when you arrive in Spain. Do the same when you've finished. Or buy...
In all respect, I know the French culture rather well. Having notes written on cards is a good idea, just handing them over and not trying to communicate is not. Much better to practice your French and struggle through. IMHO :)
An interesting kit, Theresa. I don't think I'd use the folding watercolour sheets, i'd not be able to mix as I like, and I can imagine the mess were I to drop the pad in the rain. This is the best travel paint box I've found and used for over 20 years...

I found the food along the Camino offered to the pilgrims very dull and boring. Many cafe owners seemed too bone idle to make the effort and the restaurant used the cheapest cuts of fatty meat and bone filled chicken. It's my last day today, I'm looking forward to food cooked with herbs, spices...
I have a thin pair of white cotton gloves, (military dress gloves are good) - excellent for moping brow, sun shade for hands, cleaning sun glasses, keeping hands warm on chilly mornings and a few other uses.
Portable bidet!!! Take a small 25 ml plastic bottle, remove the tube inside...
Hi Toby65, I'm Camino now and took the following route:
Lisbon
Vila de Franca de Xira
Santarem
Fatima
Fugueira da Foz
Not the coast road so far but I wanted to see Fatema.
I'll be following the coast roads now to Porto and hopefully up to Fisterre
Following the coast from Lisbon shouldn't...
Hi Jax, I'm on the camino now, I started from Lisbon a week ago and have taken a rest day at Fatima. Alone the way I lost, found and lost the markCamino. so gave up on them and just made my own way. It was pretty boring until Pernes, and nice after Minde. I have stayed with the Bombeirous...
