    No Blisters!!

8 caminos later, I finally figured it out. Buy two pairs of the lightest, most ventilated shoes you can find. Preferably different from each other. I like generic slip-on athletic shoes. And I like the Norvan from Arc'teryx very much. I use the lightest, thinnest socks that Darn Tough makes...

    Which hat looks better?

Totally agree. Well said. This turned out to have a deeper quality to it than the surface question might suggest. Very good observation.

    Which hat looks better?

I very much agree. The answers have been much more illuminating and thoughtful than I had anticipated. And much more evenly split then I thought they would be.

    Which hat looks better?

I got a new hat, "A", and was all proud until my daughter said it was a "no". A very strong no. "B" is my trusty hat of 6 caminos. Please leave a vote. Thanks!

    Elegant lodging in Santiago

Hotel Moure. Less"elegant" than very spare and modern. Has zero Camino ambiance, which I find a relief after 30 days of bonhomie.

Le Puy (or Geneva) to SJPdP in Autumn

I left Le Puy late September and the weather was ideal, Sunny and warm to start and cooler-wetter as I got into the French Basque country. I have walked several caminos now and LePuy to sjpdp was the best, just magical. Great food, crazy beautiful scenery, nice people. Ahhh magnifique. I met an...

    Coping with rainy weather

I recommend an umbrella. If it is not too windy, you can keep your top half pretty dry. Rain pants and Sealskinz socks for bottom half.

    October was really nice.

    Pack Recommendations

I love my Gregory Z30 pack. It has served me well for something like 2500 miles of loaded walking. 30 Liters.

    Via de Plata in October

Hi, I walked the VDLP this past October, from Seville to Santiago via the Sanabres option. I walked Sep. 27 through Nov. 1 with no rest days. The first 2 weeks in Andalusia and Extremadura were really hot, hitting 36 repeatedly,<<this is statistically anomalous for this time of year>> but by...
