I had my 77th birthday on the Camino Francés in 2019. I'm now contemplating another for my 80th year in 2022, but I'm not sure I could manage the Francés again. Any suggestions? James

I found this very interesting to compare with my Camino. I turned 77 a few days into my CF which started on 24th September 2019. The weather was nothing like as bad as you had, although the wind and rain was epic on the Meseta. I got to Santiago in 41 days, so averaging just over 19 Km per day...

The consensus on this forum seems to be not to plan and if you don't mind sleeping anywhere with a bed/bunk it is good advice. However, if, like me, you want to sleep only in private rooms then some advance planning is essential. This is because private rooms are exceptional, unlike dormitories...
