We've just been on the Primitivo and Borres was full last Tuesday with about 20 people at Campiello. Bodenaya was also full so we went to La Espina.
It seems a very popular time at the moment!
We stopped the first night in Escamplero cos I got a blister on the ball of my foot. However, after minor surgery! today I was able to walk on it. We passed Grado and Villapañada and are now in a shed at Doriga!! Very nice it is also cos we have it to ourselves. It was fiesta today in Doriga...
Just a quick heads up to warn anyone walking the Primitivo in the next few weeks. The Pension is closed for holidays from next Monday 8 October until the 28 October.
Food may be difficult to find during that time.
We're actually hoping to stay in the Pension but not getting a response from them. The albergue is a fallback and we're not carrying a sleeping bag, just a sheet inner.
Tomorrow night will be interesting!!!
We may (now we're going to start earlier in the day than originally anticipated) walk...
No responses!!! Oh well, we'll start tomorrow without a sleeping bag and if we shiver all night we know who to blame, lol.
Excited about starting the Primitivo, it was delayed from May due to the weather (and mud). Hope nothing stops us now!
Hope to be overnighting next week at Villapanada Albergue....can anyone advise on blanket availability.....we are currently in Spain and making final plans to start the Primitivo.
We've delayed our May Camino until the end of September/beginning of October and we're hoping that it will be drier. Surely can't be any worse can it???
The throttle operated ebikes are not legal in Spain unless you have specific insurance and they are registered. A pedal assist bike is allowed the same as any other cycle.
Btw my e-mountainbike can do around 90km on one charge, as long as I keep pedalling!!!
An ebike isn't a totally motorised vehicle. They are pedal assisted. If you don't pedal, they don't move.
More effort is needed than people think and definitely more than riding a horse, which is a traditional way of progressing along the Camino. Do horseriders qualify for a Compostela?
We were going to walk the Primitivo this month but have now postponed it until October. Done enough mud hopping in the past and hope it'll be drier after the summer.
Thanks for posting, it's been a great read.
We should be walking the Primitivo now, but being Spanish based we can go when we want. Due to the bad underfoot (and overhead!) conditions at the moment, we are delaying until late September/early October.
We won't have the spring flowers but we should have the autumn fruits to enjoy.
Good...
We may be starting from Oviedo on 22nd May. If we meet up with you, you are more than welcome to join us.
That would get us to Borres around the 25th from where we hope to do the Hospitales route on the 26th.
