You can take a taxi from Pamplona to SJPP if you need to get there that evening. No reservation required (just go to taxi stand), price should be 100 euro, agree on price before getting in taxi.
I can verify from direct eyes-on today that T2 is not derelict in his duty, and wish to thank him for the volunteer service.
And the queue was wonderfully non-existent at 10:50am.
T2, I recall reading that you are at pilgrim office now. We will do last stage into Santiago Saturday morning. The June heat slowed us down and our time is short—-we need to take 15:12 train to Madrid the same day. Can you give us heads up about typical lines for compostela in the mornings? Does...
It must be the friendly dog stage! We also did Santo Domingo to Belorado today. We didn’t meet your pup but these critters were the welcoming committee for my daughter in Castildelgado.
Barbadelo to Arzua approx 70k started 6:30am finished around 11pm (called a casa rural from melide to make sure I would have a bed). I was definitely fatigued for the next day walk to SDC.
As many have said don't be swayed by averages. It is dependent on physical condition and temperament. I am 50 and "fat but fit". I perversely enjoy the long march. Last summer I did the Leon to Finisterre section in 8 days/7 nights (from Leon overnights were Astorga , Molinaseca, Las Herrerias...
I hope I can reinvigorate this "children in albergues" thread rather than starting a new thread, especially since I would love to hear opinions of Tay and I and Kiwifamily if your ears are on!
We start a dad-daughter (12 years) SJPP-SDC trek in early June. While we will probably stay mostly in...
Just for reference, I don't think it is necessary to book a taxi in advance. Last June I walked out Pamplona airport, approached first cab I saw, asked if he was willing to go and cost, the 100 Euro ask was my expectation, I was in SJPP within 75 minutes of landing in Pamplona.
1/ I believe you are referring to the Porte d'Espagne and it is right in town, maybe 300 meters from pilgrim office, as you exit the old town on Rue d'Espagne.
2/ I don't think you will have a problem collecting stamps for your brother. Most people don't treat stamps like an act of god. In many...
JJ, your blog has provided my morning-coffee entertainment for the past couple of days. Thank You! The photos are amazing. They are the pictures I wish I would have taken. I started in SJPP exactly 7 days behind you (May 29). I intended to write a summary journal to recreate the experience in my...
