OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Camino Portuguese right now, Lisbon vs. Porto start

Laurie, I spoke to a friend who communicates regularly with Father Miguel Angel who runs the albergue. Doing well with a few more pilgrims now. Attached is a photo of him painting the Albergue with funding from our group, Camino Pilgrims of London, Canada. We are a Chapter of the...

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Camino Portuguese right now, Lisbon vs. Porto start

Couldn’t agree with Peregrina2000 more. The food and people alone are worth the ‘extra’ two weeks from Lisboa. We walked in 2015 in May and did meet quite a few pilgrims from Lisboa to Porto. If you have the time I think you would enjoy the route from Lisboa. Karen and Dayton

    Aragonés video (2019)

A very beautiful route. Very few Pilgrims, but great food and enough pilgrims to have that ‘Camino’ feeling. And you get to cross at Somport again!!! It took us 35 days from Montpellier to Puente la Reina. Of course we’re retired so we can afford the time. From your video you seem to have a...

    Aragonés video (2019)

Hi Nadine. Enjoyed your video. My husband and I walked the Chemin Arles route in 2013 and finished in Puente la Reina as well. Brought back great memories. A well done video. Karen and Dayton

    Bilbao to Estella

Hi, We took a bus from Estella to Bilbao years ago via Pamplona. Very easy. A couple of hours I think. Any probably would work. Dayton

Starting from Lisbon — good or bad idea?

We agree with Peregrina2000. We walked from Lisbon in 2015 in May and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of it. Yes it may have a little more ‘road walking’ than some other routes (but maybe not), but that’s the beauty of a Camino. You get up and walk......dealing with whatever is ahead of...

Hospitalero in Arres- ( Camino Aragones)

Hi. A little late responding!!!!!!! We met you in Lisbon in May 2015. We've been babysitting our grandson for the past several years so haven't walked any Caminos since. We are heading to Ireland in a month to do some walking. Another Camino is certainly on the horizon. Thanks for...

Camino Le Puy ending in SJPDP - anticlimactic?

We walked the Le Puy route to SJPP and continued to Estella where we served as hospitaleros. While SJPP is not like walking into Santiago the first time it was a great experience for us. We got to see and talk with many pilgrims just starting their Camino and were taken in with their...

    Camino Portugues - Which Guidebook?

Hi Bill. We walked from Lisbon. A little 'road' walking but it's all relative. Nothing dangerous that I can remember but a lot of hard packed paths that are very similar to walking on a road. I don't think there's any more road walking than on other Caminos. You'll enjoy it. Bon Caminho.

How busy is the Arles route at the moment?

Hi. I would book at least a day ahead. Sometimes we booked two days ahead. There will be some days when you won't be able to 'book' ahead but you won't have any trouble finding a gite. In some of the municipal gites you aren't able to book ahead. We walked in April/May and never had...

    Lisbon to Porto

Agree with surya8. We didn't take any extra days but really enjoyed all the stops in the towns surya8 mentioned. Lots of little surprises. We walked from Lisbon in 2015 and you shouldn't have any problems with accomodations. Lots of varied types. Enjoy. Dayton and Karen

Hospitalero in Arres- ( Camino Aragones)

Agree with all. An albergue not to be missed. Beautiful views, great little restaurant and wonderful communal dinner. A quintessential Camino experience. Enjoy your time as Hospitalero. Here's a couple of shots approaching Arrés and overlooking Arrés. Dayton and Karen
