Need Advice - the last 100 miles

Yes, as above. We came from Los Angeles. We flew LA to Madrid. Madrid to Santiago. Santiago we took a prebooked taxi who met us at the airport to Sarria. We didn't want to see any of Santiago as that was our destination, so kept it a surprise. The private taxi was expensive but we arrived...

    Backpacks for children

My most important note would be buy in person not on the internet. We tried on at least 6 before my 10 year old found one that fit her around the arms, straps didn't cut or irritate, she liked the feeling, pockets, zipper, etc. We ended up at REI and after trying all the typical name brands, she...

Curious about tour operator pre-planned walks

That sounds smart! I know the international plans were 30, 60 and 120 I think but I always seemed to go over - way too fast - so I would do the SIM too! (And I am so excited for you to be going and can't wait to follow your adventures!)

Curious about tour operator pre-planned walks

Yes and that is great advice! For me, I have a fairly new phone that was not unlocked and I did not want to change my phone number/give a new number to friends, etc. It really is more a comfort level than anything. It definitely comes down to where you want to give/where you want to save.

Curious about tour operator pre-planned walks

Hi there, I took my regular Samsung/Android phone. I have AT&T and paid for the $10 a day foreign/International use/flat fee for all. You pay the days you use it. It was cheaper than using an international plan that I had before based on data as I always seemed to go over. It's a flat fee for...

Curious about tour operator pre-planned walks

So many wonderful, enriching replies and I learned so much from reading them. I would add my own personal journey to this: When I decided to walk the Camino, as I am a single woman with a 10 year old child, my very first instinct was to book a tour company, hire a guide, have my luggage...

Looking to start journey with someone or get any advice on Paris 8/4, 8/5 traveling to St. Jean 8/6

Hello, I re-read this thread with your concerns and this is what I would do: 1. You arrive at CDG from Baltimore, MD at 11:30am. Please factor customs and terminal change. Book a flight to Biarritz via Air France/EasyJet/etc leaving around 2 to 3pm the same day out of CDG. The flight is a...

Looking to start journey with someone or get any advice on Paris 8/4, 8/5 traveling to St. Jean 8/6

Hello, I want to respond and tell you I understand your anxiety. The train is roughly 4 hours from Gare (station) Montparnesse in Paris to Biarritz. I haven't taken that particular train but I don't think the issue is really scenic but how much time you have and what hour you wish to arrive...

Looking to start journey with someone or get any advice on Paris 8/4, 8/5 traveling to St. Jean 8/6

I live in Paris part time and rent my apartment on Air BnB. What I tell visiting guests is it is easier to hire a car service to pick you up at the airport if this is your first time arriving at CDG. To have someone waiting for you does alleviate a lot of stress as it is a long plane ride, a...

    Geocaching along the Camino

Hi there. As we arrived in Santiago de Compostela two days earlier than expected, we did do over a dozen geocaches. All were left by O Golpe who was recommended by a pilgrim on this forum. They were very clever and surprisingly right in the thick of the crowd and required great stealth. They...

    Camino with children

We used Booking.com and entered the cities on the Camino Frances route. From lists provided here, we had many of the names of the Casa Rurales. Many of the bars/routes along the way have private rooms as well alburgue/dorm rooms. Accommodations were also listed on our apps - gronze.com and wise...

    Random helpful advice

Don't pack anything "just in case" - you can buy just about anything you may need there. Despite all the warnings against cotton, I last minute packed my favorite long sleeved loose white cotton t-shirt and was so very happy to snuggle into that at night after all the dryfit "wickey-wickey"...

    Camino with children

Hi there, I am the mom with the Help with a 10 year old Sarria to Santiago thread. We just returned. I found as advised that my daughter did much better than either of us expected. One poster had said "never underestimate a 10 year old" and that became her personal mantra and motto and she...

    Plantars Fasciitis

Hi there. This is what I brought with me. KT PRO. They are precut and more sports geared in their advertising. I purchased them at Target. They have a similar brand at Big 5 Sporting Goods. I ended up buying one more container in Melide and one in Santiago. They were not precut like the KT brand...

    Plantars Fasciitis

I feel the pain in the actual underneath inner arch, not the heel. I used the black kinesiology tape and wrapped it around my arch on both feet and wore that through the entire Camino and it truly helped. They sold the tape at all the Farmacia/Pharmacy along the Camino so I was able to reapply...
