Having spouse join for final 100km, or meet in Santiago - I’m thinking it’s not a great idea…

I completed the walk to Santiago. Then I flew down to Madrid to meet my husband, came to Sarria, and walked back to Santiago. The second walk with my husband was a totally leisurely vacation -- we took ten days to walk this short route, finishing each day at a nice place to unpack, enjoy a...

    Pulpo in Melide

I have also stopped competing for bunk beds some time ago. I use booking.com for a room in a pension or hotel. There isn't any fancy place in Melide but quite a few decent places that are spread out all over the small town.

    Pulpo in Melide

I've been to Ezequiel four times. Each time, I scheduled my walk to allow me to stay overnight so I can enjoy the pulpo, the huge grilled shrimp and some cold beer. It's a treat that I look forward to for every one of my Camino Frances.

    Saharan Dust

Have you seen/heard any forecast about how long this may last? We are scheduled to walk from Lisbon in early April and I have respiratory problems.

Will we be met with scorn or equanimity?

I would welcome your presence on the Camino at all times and on all terrains. Just be respectful of the walkers ahead of you (I'm sure you will). Slow down and make some cheerful sounds (e.g., Buen Camino; Hi', on your left, etc.). I've had several really scary moments with flying bicycles that...

Walking in a "skort" (skirt/shorts hybrid)

I don't understand why people wear skorts either. But since so many people do, there must be some good reasons (besides being a bit feminine). I wonder what they are.

Hiking the Camino de Santiago from SJPP in April

Wow, your first overseas trip is the walk across Spain? Buen Camino! I am almost envious of your upcoming experience. It will be absolutely wonderful and nothing like your other adventures. There's only one first-time Camino walk. I walked six times, and while all were great, there's always that...

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Where to find Covid PCR testing in Paris?

Yes, a Parisien pharmacy can do an inexpensive and fast test. Also, for what it's worth, we have boarded the French train three times in the past two weeks thus far (TGV, Intercity: Paris-Montpellier-Paris-Le Havre) and no one has checked our Pass. So taking the chance that you won't be asked...

LIVE from the Camino My Camino started Sept 8, 2021

You did the first day through the Pyrennes in one day. I did too. Hard but doable. Yes, the hotel is a nice reward. For me, early in April, walking through the rain and snow through the mountains, it was wonderful to be in a beautiful, clean private room with hissing heating pipes on the walls...

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Health Pass ( QR Code) update for Americans from Le Puy

Could you let us know when you get the QR Code? Our arrival date is Aug 19, we applied yesterday and anxiously awaiting.

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD French Health Pass no problem

This is not an answer to your QR Code questions, as I also have the same questions. In the meantime, you may go to a pharmacy and get an Antigen test (inexpensive -- about 20 - 30 Euros?) for a temporary 72-hour code. This will give you some more time to wait for the QR code. While you're...

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD French Health Pass no problem

I printed it, filled the blanks and signed, and scanned it.

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD French Health Pass no problem

Sure. Just in case we don't receive one before our arrival, we have booked an Antigen test at a pharmacy near the train station (staying overnight at a hotel in the area).
