In recent days there have been several rescues by the bomberos with hypothermia. One person got stuck at the shelter and couldn’t go on. what cold weather gear have you got? WTerproof boots, gloves, hat, down jacket? If you are not ready for cold, wind and wet, that’s hypothermia territory...

    Trail Condition - before Molinaseca

The first time I walked it in 2015, I’d already walked from St Jean. Tbh I dislike heights but just took it slowly and it was ok. It was dry at the time. There was the most beautiful smell of incense from the rock rose. last year walking with stage 4 cancer I took a cab from El Acebo to...

Help from those experienced with a donkey

I met a family traveling with three boys aged about 5-10, two big dogs and a donkey. They were camping in the grounds of albergues and paying to use their shower. It seemed a faff but they were Spanish. Unless you speak reasonable Spanish I think this is a no go. youd need to find places to...

Roncesvalles and Mansilla seem to be the bed crunch trouble spots

I stayed at Roncevalles on the second night of my first Camino in 2015. Though the albergue is huge, it’s split up into little bays with modern beds, bathrooms etc. I felt really cared for by the fraternity running it. Thank you.

Sorry but unless you’ve been told to do it by your medical doctor, you do not need to follow a carnivorous diet. You might strongly prefer to, but that’s not a need. NeEd is, if I don’t do this, illland in hospital.

Exploring Route Variants on the Camino Frances: Natural and Historical Highlights

Between cacabelos and villafranca you can turn right towards Valtuille DAriba. Avoids main road walking.. going into Ponferrada there is an alternative taking you off the main road to the left. one thing of note I rewalked Leon to O Cebreiro last summer. Most of the alternativos that used...

Recommendation for British pilgrimage route with short stages.

I’d second St Cuthberts Way. I walked much of it last summer. Having cancer, I can no longer do long days. We kept to under 15km. Used taxis to start and end each day and stayed in b&bs. personally I found the clips pretty hard and bailed on one day in the middle. Walking out to...
