LIVE from the Camino This JUST happened...

I love this story so much! What would happen if someone collected these beautiful stories of humanity as we have walked, and compiled them into a feel good coffee table book.... I have a few stories of the depth of human spirit from my camino, and I know that just about every pilgrim has their...

looking for info/experiences on the Camino Portugués March/April

Hi! I've been in hiding while in transition - now in the very beginning stages of planning a second camino. YAY! First choice for this one (Porto - Santiago - Finesterre would be March/April time frame, but I am interested in reading about the pros/cons for various times of year on that...

I Need my Morning Coffee :)

I got off-trail one morning following café signs instead of yellow trail markers....after my coffee, I set off again, only to be set right by a thoughtful garbage truck driver. Later that day, I stopped and was enjoying a cold beer outside of a café and a garbage truck pulled in the parking lot...

Scavenger Hunt for Kids on the Camino...ideas needed

I don't have much to add, but I love this thread - your original idea and all of the suggestions! This suggestion would involve a bit more stopping here and there, but you could challenge them to get stamps in their pilgrim passports in the same village, but different locations (so different...

Name the one thing you could never have prepared for

Perhaps it was a reiki session - it was done by another pilgrim in the courtyard garden of a small cafe in that little village. :))

    I will walk alone

Buen Camino! I traveled 'alone', never really developed a camino 'family' as in day-to-day being and walking together, but did make friends that I keep in touch with still, here and there....it was perfect. I hope you have an experience that is just right for you, Christoffer. Kerstin

Name the one thing you could never have prepared for

I have had a little slideshow of memories upon reading the OP's question...but one stood out. In Larrasoana, defeated physically and emotionally (temporarily, I learned as that was an oft-repeating cycle early on), a woman asked to 'read' my energy... um, ok. I was so surprised to feel...

Katie from Minnesota to walk Camino Frances Sept. 2016

How exciting, Katie! Although I have lived in NC for many years, I grew up in MN. Enjoy your planning and all of the lovely pilgrims chiming in on your plans :) I remember back in late 2013/early 2014 when I wrote a similar post right here on this forum... so eager I was to connect with and...

    shortage of beds?

It's been two years since my mid-May through June camino... it took me 43 days to get from St Jean to Santiago de Compostela. There was that one time....that the beds in the albergue I stopped at were all spoken for. I could've walked backwards to the other albergue in that town and perhaps...

    charging phones in pilgrims refuges

43 days walking and only two days that I recall any kind of stress over needing to charge. The stress related to wanting to connect to my family, not whether to not I could charge my phone. You're going to be just fine. Buen Camino

    Mind over Matter

Joodle :))) you are going to be just fantastic - you'll overdo it, and you'll pull back to recover. You'll leave a few things from your pack to the area in an albergue where you can contribute to a pilgrim who might have a use for but you no longer need/want to carry...and you might pick up a...

Monkey Wrench Thrown in my Camino

Joel - The camino calls - we answer in our own very individual ways. The very best to you and to your beloved comrade as each of you walk the paths now you find yourselves on. much love and Buen Camino! Kerstin

    Pilgrim shame

shame. guilty of it; both personal and projected. the shame that takes a grip is the one you hold yourself in. *best to work it out and then LET GO OF IT embarrassment. the best kind is the kind you share at a loving gathering at the end of a hard day. *best to work it out with a shared giggle...

    re-visiting camino experiences

I spent an hour or so re-reading some of the things I shared either privately with friends and family or occasionally on Facebook as I walked the camino Frances last year... reading this prompted me to share it here. Do you have a 'heart' story from your own camino? I want to read yours :))...
