    Knitting the Camino

Kimlin, you have only a few days left before you head out to the camino. I hope you have good weather and a great Camino. I hope we meet along the way.

    Knitting the Camino

Thanks for your comment Gerd. I wish you a buen camino on your route too. I'm looking forward to my first day when I meet those who are starting on the same day I am.

    Knitting the Camino

Kimlin, I'm sure we could come to some agreement about the Scallop shell. It's actually one of Barbara Walker's patterns, which some one had adapted into a hat. I looked at the pattern today in vol 2 of her books (my step daughter owns it), and it turns out to be the pattern used on the cover...

    Knitting on the Camino

I could learn to spell Sacrilegious too, I suppose. I'll work on that. Knkn

    Knitting on the Camino

Moving this thread to a new location as suggested by Bridgid and Peter. Thanks to those who made suggestions about ways of dealing with weight. Indeed I have thought about sending yarn along the way and sending my finished socks on to Santiago. I have done a little searching for yarn shops...

    Posting to Camino Calendar

I went back to the calendar and now I'm leaving on the right day (May 6) but seems I'm starting at 3:00 am. That should really annoy the other pilgrims as I rustle my plastic bags, (LOL). There will be no plastic bags, promise. And I'm on the West Coast of Canada (same timezone as LA), so I...

    Leaving Vancouver Canada

Thanks Alipilgrim, Not a bad idea. I was thinking of going over to Oak Street from 2nd Ave. Now there's a hill. Walked 2 hours today - would have walked more but decided I'd been rained on enough. So I went for a caffe con leche instead. Nigel

    Leaving Vancouver Canada

I'm heading to Spain from Vancouver on April 28, will be walking about May6. Flying into Madrid, one can then get the train to St. Sebastian, then by train to Bayonne, and on to St. Jean. That's what I'm doing. I may stay in Bayonne overnight and then St. Jean overnight because I want to...

    Boots or good jogging shoes?

I'm a knitter who is going to take his knitting with him on the camino. I am using 2.25 mm needles and good thin sock yarn. The problem is as always, weight. Carrying enough yarn for 4 pairs of socks is almost a pound, 400 gm. So what do I leave out of my pack? Nigel

    Posting to Camino Calendar

I went to the Camino Calendar and entered my date of departure from St. Jean Pied de Port - beginning May 6. After checking it, I submitted the date, logged out and went back in to discover that I am scheduled to leave on May 3 at 3 AM. Hmmm. That seems to be a problem... Nigel

    Knitting the Camino

HI, I'm Nigel from Vancouver, BC, Canada, and I will be heading to Spain on April 28. Won't begin the Camino Frances until May 6 or 7, but will be walking from St. Jean Pied de Port. My goal is to reach Santiago, and I'll be blogging the trip on my website...
