Can anyone tell me where this crucifix is?

I have stopped at this church every time I've walked the Camino, but I can't remember the town except that it starts with an F and it's in the last 100km. Does anyone know where it is?

    Gluten free on the Frances.

I am a meat eater, so I can’t speak to the vegetarian part of it, but I was able to walk the Camino Frances gluten free in 2016. The Spanish phrase you need to remember is “sin pan” (pronounced seen pan) it means without bread. Here are my go-to naturally gluten free options to eat: paella...

    Camino rose

Alas, they don't ship to the United States. I was really wanting to plant one in my yard, as well, but it isn't allowed.

    Bicycle danger near Castrojeriz

😂 You WALK the bike down! I biked from Burgos to Astorga in 2016, and I was never brave enough to try biking down the really steep hills if they weren't paved.

    Alternative POV

This. Oh, SOOO much this! At two weeks away from my next Camino, I feel like this is my focus for this coming Camino. Thank you for sharing this!!!

Medical - where to get ice?

A friend of mine would get an ice cream—put it on your ache, then eat it! Also, my last Camino, I brought one of those reusable ice bags—when I asked for ice and showed them my ice bag, every cafe I asked at was super helpful.

I made it one day- what I wished I had understood more clearly

As someone who has had her Camino modified/slightly derailed every time she has walked (tendinitis in both feet), I can totally empathize with what it feels like in that moment when you have to stop/get transportation/reassess what to do. It is why I will be biking my coming Camino. Yes, I have...

Just for Fun, Packing Light Tips

Rather than a full foam roller, I have one of those hard foam roller trigger point balls. It’s about the size of a tennis ball and less than 4 oz. It uses very little space, but I can roll out what I need to. There is a bigger one you can get that is about the size of a grapefruit if you feel...

    Pilgrims mass

When I volunteered at the pilgrims office last summer, we were to note down the nationalities of the pilgrims that asked about mass times and then note which mass they planned to attend. Someone came by and collected the info periodically. Unless you mentioned it while you were getting your...

    Top tips from Frances veterans?

One thing I I did after my second Camino was to make a book of my favorite pics through snap fish. I think google pictures have something similar. I plan to do the same this coming Camino.

    Top tips from Frances veterans?

😂 Maybe it's the fact that St. Benedict's thigh bone is in the monastery there! 😂 BTW, I love it, too!

Please don't treat donativos as free

How does one get on the list to volunteer at one of the donativos? I’m volunteering at the pilgrims office again this summer, but would like to maybe be a hospitalera next summer or the summer after that. Ruth

    Top tips from Frances veterans?

Whenever the opportunity presents itself, do the communal meal. I had the privilege of meeting so many neat people because I did this. And, I’m not sure about Covid restrictions, but plan to make a meal occasionally if the kitchen is open. It is a pleasant change from the pilgrims menu—and if...

Camino routes based on ease of biking and guidebooks to go with them?

This will be my first time as a bicigrina, and I found the cicerone Camino Frances biking guidebook. I’ve read on other threads that there are better guidebooks out there, so would it be possible to get titles and/or where I can purchase them? Second, Even though my doctor has said that walking...

Trying to figure out best bike route

This is right before Castrojeritz. And the gentleman in the picture is a guy that taught me how to use my gears on a long ride like this.
