My wife Jan and I are avid outdoorspeople, especially self-propelled activities like hiking, cycling, canoeing and kayaking. After dreaming about doing the Camino for years, we did the Camino Frances Sept/Oct 2013 starting in St Jean Pied de Port, pausing in Santiago, then onwards to Finnesterre and Muxia. It was one of the top experiences of our lives (not counting our two kids!).

We are fortunate to live in an outdoor paradise here on the coast of British Columbia, Canada, with the Pacific Ocean and mountains at our doorstep. Our experience with multi-day expeditions backpacking, canoeing or kayaking really helped in our gear selection and getting ready physically.

We are both recently retired (me from high tech, Jan from education) and we now working and/or volunteering part time in the non-profits (local Food Bank, homeless shelter, community meal).
