I walked the CF in 2017 on a pair of Lone Peak 2.5. I an 6'6" and 250 lbs so I really gave them a workout. About 1/2 way through I added a sole insert since I had pretty much flattened the original inserts.
I wore a light khaki (more like light beige) travel shirt that was UPF 50 rated. I wore it more than half of the days on the 45 days of walking. It was great for staying cool (June Camino Frances). I couldn't tell the differenece before/after the walk.
2 outfits are sufficient IMO. I walked the Camino Frances and Finisterre May/June this year. For 45 days I wore one outfit and carried the second. When it was cool, sometimes I wore an outfit 2 days before washing. If it was dirty or sweaty, I washed the outfit at night while wearing the second...
My wife and I just finished the Camino Frances and Camino Finisterre on June 27. We are in our 60's reasonably fit and were walking 10-15 miles on flat streets and paths for months prior to going without packs and > 1 month with loaded packs. We averaged 2.5 miles an hour (4 km/hr.) on the flat...
I really like Locus Maps. This was our first Camino and you can pin point your location and direction relative to the camino-frances and on the Camino Finisterre. It has a number of PIOS including churches, cafes and albergues. This app came in handy navigating in the bigger towns off route and...
We were on the stretch after Castrojeriz near the flea fountain when a herd of 20 plus Winnabago came by. By the time we had walked to the chapel they had also arrived. After getting their "credential" stamped they were off for the next stop.
Is there a service that I can ship from the USA to about midway on the Camino Frances with a spare set of hiking shoes, shirt and pants? I am 6 foot 5 inches and need tall clothes and boots with a wide toe box like Keens. Or do you think I would be able to buy them along the Camino if I need...
Somebody else suggested a plastic vacuum suction cup. They are available at hardware stores for about $1 each and hold about 5 pounds. I tried it in my home shower and it held my dry sack. They are very light weight. I plan on bring several with me when I come in May.
When I go to this website (movelia.es) I do not get a schedule just the opportunity to buy a ticket. I confess I understand very little Spanish but do not see the link for a list of times.
