    Rain...rain pants?

Definitely a light jacket but no rain pants. I've made the mistake on my first Camino to bring a rain pants. After 2hrs I took it off and never used it again. Second Camino I did not bring a rain pants and never missed it. On both Caminos did I encounter rain.

    Accommodation

Somewhere I have read about a family that house pilgrims on the Spiritual route. They even offer dinner. All at a price of cause. Does anyone have any contact detail for me. I'm on the Portuguese coastal route at the moment

Disparities between Wise Pilgrim and Brierley distances

I walked the same general route and according to my GPS I walked 816km exactly. The difference being that in towns we walk to different destinations. Also, during certain stages I chose to walk an extra distance to see something of interest. Therefore, no two pilgrims wil have the same...

I am starting on 21 July and plan to sleep over here: www.alfa10.pt. I don't know if this is the best option, but it is all I could find. Maybe someone else can give more advise.

    Rain pants

My previous Camino in 2019 I was walking with a rain pants on day one during a lot of rain. After 10km, I took the pants off as it was too uncomfortable. I never used it again on the rest of the walk, although there were more rain days.

Need internet connection while on Camino

From what you described and you do not a 1hr video call everyday, 5Gb per month will be more than ample. I intend having regular MS Teams meetings and daily Whattsap video calls.

Need internet connection while on Camino

Not good news, I'll keep that in mind when I get the card in Lisbon. I'll probably use Vodafone as I am familiar with them in South Africa. Also Ivar's comment about difficulty with topping up in Spain is valuable info I never thought of.

Need internet connection while on Camino

Unfortunately for me I can only do the Camino if I continue with my normal work tasks (something I do remotely at the moment). I know how much I currently use. >5Gb but < 10Gb. Therefore I have to take a standard offering of 10Gb. Easy, at home I run out of data with 5Gb but not with 10Gb...

Need internet connection while on Camino

I'm doing the Portuguese Camino from Lisbon and then from Santiago to Muxia in July and August 2023. During my walk I will require about 10 Gb per month internet connection. To save weight, I prefer to only buy a simcard (to be used in both Portugal and Spain) and insert it in my current dual...

I stayed in a hotel in Los Arcos called the Hostal Suetxe (https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/hostal-suetxe.html?aid=1365032&label=548293-top300) for two evenings, 31 July 2019 and 1 August 2019. Below is an extract from the book I wrote afterwards. Juan-Luis, the owner of the hotel is an...

    Train Madrid to Sarria

In July 2019 I did the Camino Frances from Saint Jean Pied de Port. My wife joined me at Sarria for the las 123km. She flew from South Africa to Madrid. Then she took a domestic flight to A Coruña. From there a taxi to the railway station and lastly the train from A Coruña to Sarria train...

Pilgrim stabbed and attacked at knife point after Sacavem, was able to escape

To @AB_notifying, your friend B and to @Yolan. Thank you for having the strength and guts to share your gruesome experience with others. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you to relive the nightmares. As a father of two daughters I shivered when I read your account of events and I...
