I keep talking myself out of it....

Whoops, I misread your departure date. I can understand being nervous. When I undertake this walk, I will do it solo as my husband can't. So, doing solo travel creates a few anxious moments for me.

July 2023 Europe heat wave? How hot is it on the Camino?

Donna, good advice regarding the umbrella and hydration. We use one here in NZ due to the harsh sun. You certainly went from ine extreme to another shifting from Dunedin to Darwin 🌞

The Unique Journey of New Zealand Pilgrims to Santiago

Hi Dianne Enjoy the process of planning your trip, and have a fabulous Camino next April. I think Spring is a lovely time to walk as opposed to summer. Buen Camino, Suzanne

July 2023 Europe heat wave? How hot is it on the Camino?

Hi Bwarenz Having spent a few years travelling around Europe and Turkey during hot summers, I know air conditioning is sometimes needed for a good night's sleep, and it helped us with heat exhaustion. I look forward to reading about your upcoming Camino. Buen Camino

    The why of a 2nd, 3rd or 17th Camino

I am in the same "boat". A husband that had a bone marrow transplant with ongoing issues and an elderly mother are two things that have created the need to pick the best time. I am patient.

A hard landing upon returning home

Thanks for being honest, April. Firstly, congratulations on completing a Camino. I haven't done one yet though I am a seasoned traveller. I may not be able to do one due to circumstances out of my control though I will enjoy the long walks I intend to keep doing until the time is right. Best...

Sarah from New Zealand -What drew you to the Camino?

I am not sure how to start a group on here? Wonderful that you have someone that you can walk with. I have yet to convince a friend who I do half marathons with that doing a Camino would be fun ;-) My husband is unable to do it. However, he is cheering happily from the sidelines at the idea...

Sarah from New Zealand -What drew you to the Camino?

Sarah, we found the Spanish food is very much meat based and the tomatoes are so tasty. We shopped at supermarkets than eating at restaurants. Duolingo is very useful so was flinging my hands around to express what we wanted 😉 It is always good to try to say a few words in Spanish and it...

Sarah from New Zealand -What drew you to the Camino?

Hi Sarah and Bernice Perhaps we could start a mini group of NZers who would love to do a Camino walk. I am in the latter of wanting to do it for many years, though I have travelled around Europe housesitting with my husband; I need to get the timing right. Perhaps in 2025. Cheers Suzanne...
