Thank you for the reply. The main culprits for my pack weight are:
1) slightly heavy pack (1.4kg)
2) slightly heavy sleeping bag (1.1kg)
3) extra shoes (690g)
4) slightly heavy raincoat (440g)
Those 4 items alone come out to 8 lbs! But these are the ones I have, and the ones I'll bring.

Well we're down to the crunch now... leaving for Pamplona in one week. I am so excited - everything I do, read, think or talk about is camino, camino, camino... I am not as prepared physically as I would like to be. The winter here in Ottawa has been never-ending. Streets and sidewalks were...
Hello again peregrinos-peregrinas,
Well I'm coming up soon to my departure date (April 15). I will be walking the CF (first time) from Pamplona to SDC. I am giving myself 34 days so I can take some rest days here and there. But where? I have never been to Spain.
I know that rest days may get...
Thank you Jan and Davey. I know the debate rages on as to the merits of pre booking or not. I am in the "not pre-book" camp to keep the camino spontaneous and enjoy greater freedom in choosing where to sleep. I guessed I just got spooked after reading that Holy week was particularly busy and...
Hello all,
My CF will begin in Pamplona on April 16 and first day walk to Puente de Reina on the 17th. I booked in the Jakue albergue for that night through Gronze/booking.com. But for the subsequent days/locations (Estella, Los Arcos...) all albergues are booked already~! But many albergues...
Hola amigos y peregrinos,
I am planning to do the Portuguese camino starting April 16, 2019. (I will bus it from Lisbon to Fatima, so actual walking will start April 18). This will result in walking to Caxarias, Ansiao, Zambujal and Coimbra during Easter holy week. I assume a lot of businesses...
LesBrass, Sorry to hear about your fall and injury and subsequent bad experience (vomiting/abdominal pain...) attributed to ibuprofen.
I am not a doctor but I do have a lot of experience with ibuprofen. By that, I mean I have taken this drug many many times over many years to treat minor pain...
Thank you all again for the many replies and ideas. The common theme seems to be "do your camino your own way". And of course, there are just as many "ways" to walk the camino as there are peregrinos. But I'm still at the planning stage - for now just visualizing myself doing it. And for today...
Thank you all for the many replies. I realize that endurance (both mental and physical) will come with practice/time. I'm not looking at it like a race, but I also don't want to take it too slow. My budget will allow 35 days at most. I still have a few months to prepare so hopefully my training...
Hello all pereginos,
I'm asking for opinions on doing the camino when you are fat. I am 50lbs overweight but somewhat fit ( if that is possible). I have been training for the past month to walk 10-12km on 3 or 4 times a week and can manage that easily. But camino days are more like 25-30km...
Thank you for the replies. I will be leaving Ottawa on September 17 so will probably start at SJPP on the 18th. But nothing is confirmed yet. Right now I am training on 5-7km walks on most days. I will gradually increase that so to prove to myself I can do 25-30km/day before I leave . I have an...
Hello fellow pilgrims and pilgrimettes. My name is Luc. I am from Ottawa, Canada and am planning my first camino for mid September. Looking forward to being a member on this forum and enjoy your many posts and pictures. I do have questions and will post them in time. If you click my picture you...
