My only doubt: I would arrive in Santiago (on foot) on a Thursday and will then have to get my Compostela and the Galica pass the same day, so I can travel on Friday. I understand that you would still have to book trains to use the pass (makes sense) and that you can only do that at railway...
Wow, thanks a lot for this tip! Looks like a perfect opportunity for me. I am leaving my car in A Gudiña and walk from there (well, Verín to be precisely) to Santiago. It looks like a normal ticket from Santiago back to A Gudiña is already more expensive than those €25. And I was planning to...
If you want a safe parking for a reasonable price, your best option is probably an airport. Book in advance and if you become a (free) member of Aena you get a 5% discount. So in your case that would probably be Sevilla airport (or Badajoz, but I think public transport will be limited to that...
To my experience you can't always rely on Google maps regarding public transport in the Spanish countryside. I always start with Google maps and then try to find proof for the connections it found.
Thanks a lot for that! I had already read the very entertaining report of @alansykes, but didn't know about yours. Having read both of them now, I am pretty sure I am going for the Verín variante!
Also because I already saw a bit of the main Camino last August, when I struggled with my...
Similar story here 😁 I also started planning my Camino a bit, having to walk shorter stages and not knowing how busy it will be after Ourense. But the difference might be that I planned to start in A Gudiña and could still easily change my starting point. I calculated 5 walking days from A...
That is really nice of you! Because of this thread I found out that the Verín-variant looks quite interesting too. So now I have a choice to make... 😅 If I decide to go for Casa Nuñez, I'll give them a call and ask the things you forgot to ask and post the answers here. 👍
I just digged into public transport options, but they are zero. So I am now going to figure out if the Verín variant would be an alternative for me.
Edit: I think that variant would work for me, if I change my starting point from A Gudiña to Verín. Then my first walking day would either be...
Hi @Camino Chrissy, sorry, no suggestions, but thanks for the heads-up! I hope to continue from A Gudiña in May and also planned to divide that stage into 2 stages and I was also counting on Albergue da Rosario. So I am going to look at an alternative as well. If I find anything, I'll let you know.
I walked that stage in August 2023. This is what I wrote on FindPenguins:
This stage has had a lot of changes. I'll describe here what I did (also have a look at the photos).
Almost all tracks on Wikiloc are slightly different. I followed the mojones and official signs, which keep you away...
Yes, that is another (more universal) issue. I have stopped flying within (mainland) Spain because of the climate crisis, but that often means longer and more expensive journeys.
@peregrina2000 How could I forget bahn.de! I always used them when trying to find connections in France, but it never ocurred to me that I could use them for Spain as well. Thanks!
Like @J Willhaus explained, there are several things going on, but to be honest that happens quite often with RENFE. Another thing is the delay with the delivery of high speed trains meant for Asturias - Madrid. With other companies (SNCF in France for example), you know when to buy tickets...
