T minus 5 days and counting to my first Camino. Getting really excited!! I’ll be taking a train from Madrid to Pamplona but I see that the bus from Pamplona to SJPdP only runs 2x daily and the schedule doesn’t work very well for my arrival time. Will it be easy for me to find a taxi from the...
Leaving in 30 days for my very first as well (Frances), also ignorant, also less anxious! In the beginning stages of planning I tried to gather all the info I could. Then woke up one day to realize that I was taking the fun out of it! I do not want to know exactly what to expect. I cannot...
I would like to thank everyone who provided such thoughtful responses! I really appreciate the time and insight you’ve given. For a newbie it’s such a tough call, given the fact that Orrison must be booked so far in advance. I’d love to just see how I feel when I reach Orrison, depending on my...
Would you mind sharing airline/flight info on this? All I’m finding into BIQ are flights with multiple connections (taking many hours) and rates are over 500 Euro
Good point! I’m referring to difficulty due to weather and path/road conditions. I’m not worried about the general terrain, ascent, etc. If it were summer, I wouldn’t be thinking twice about it!
Looking at Rome2rio’s website, looks like best way from Madrid to St jean is combo train/bus. Is it necessary to purchase tickets and book travel in advance? Here in the United States, I’m used to just arriving at the station and purchasing a ticket onsite. I don’t want to assume it’s the same...
I didn’t want to hijack another recent thread so I decided to post a new one, I apologize if it’s a little redundant. I’m a first timer hoping to walk the Napoleon and make it to Roncesvalles the first night (April 18). For those familiar with the routes and the weather, is this too ambitious...
Please forgive me if this post is redundant but I’ve be sifting through previous posts on the topic and haven’t found anything specific. After booking flights and planning our calendars, I literally just now realized that my spouse and I will be beginning our very first Camino during Holy Week...
Thanks for this info! My problem is that I don’t plan to make it to Santiago on this trip (ie I won’t be near Ivar’s to pick up my bag) and I have no firm hotel plans in Burgos and so being able to pick it up directly at the Curreos sounds perfect. I will cross my fingers that this works out...
I’m flying into Madrid and planning to start the Frances in SJPdP but I’ve only got about 10 walking days. Hoping to end somewhere around Santo Domingo or slightly further. I would like to have my luggage shipped from Madrid to either Logrono or Burgos (haven’t quite figured this part out yet...
We are flying into/out of Madrid in April for our first Camino. Would like to spend a few days vacationing in the capital city either before or after our pilgrimage. Any thoughts on this from those who have walked before? I was originally thinking of a post-camino stayover, but now I’m thinking...
I’m so glad to have found this forum and such helpful and kind input from so many members! My name is Maria and after several years of anticipation, I’m planning to walk my first Camino in April. First up: I need to decide my route. Right now I’m up between Frances or Portuguese Coastal...
