    Credential

I have gotten a credential in Leon, several times, at the Benedictine Monasterio de Santa Maria de Carbajal, located in a nice square not far from the Cathedral. I have also stayed several times at the Albergue San Francisco de Asis on avenue Alcate Miguel Castaños 4, which is a modern...

Advice please is this a good route for september taking it slow first timer

If you stayed in Najera or Azofra, the Cirueña golf club or the bar in town is the perfect stop for coffee or lunch. The golf club restaurant welcomes pilgrims.

On the Camino: One Day at a Time, one Photo at a Time 6.0

I was a hospitalera at San Miguel in Estella in June 2015. The priest came every few days to count the donations, and your money-counting routine sounds familiar. It was a nice Albergue in an interesting town. I am sorry that I never met Fernando.

On the Camino: One Day at a Time, one Photo at a Time 6.0

In the spring of 2012, on a day just like this in the photo, and on this part of the trail, I had a brief 'visitation' by a friend who had died four years earlier; he had walked the CF in 2004. The experience was very strange, but reassuring.

A group of storks is a 'muster of storks' or a 'phalanx of storks.'

Coldest Stages on Camino Frances for late June/July

I take a indoor/outdoor sleeping bag - one side is cotton fabric and the other is lightly quilted. It is good down to 15C, and I also take a silk liner (weighs next to nothing). Even if the weather is warm, there are some albergues that are always cold at night due to their stone construction...

Same Camino over and over again

That's me! I have walked the Camino Frances on my own every year from 2011 to 2019, except in 2013 when I walked the Arles/Aragones Camino from Toulouse to Puente La Reina with a Camino friend. I love the Frances - it has a great infrastructure, it feels comfortable and safe, and it is...

Hi, Jim! I was just thinking of you a day ago ...and there you are! I am fine. When borders open, I will visit Keri & family and I will let you know for sure. It will be nice to see you again. Mary Lynn

    Offer one Camino suggestion.....

Good suggestion! A photo of the exterior of the place with its name included is helpful once you get home and can't remember the specifics of different accomodations. If no one is around, I also take a photo of the room and/or my bed.

    Offer one Camino suggestion.....

Give up your expectations...the hilly/mountainous parts may not be as difficult as you think they will be...you might feel enveloped by the simple beauty of the meseta and realize it is not boring and dull after all...you may meet lots of interesting people along the way but you might not find a...

Self- catering - no utensils in Galicia

It was the same when I was there in Spring 2011.
