    Bouncing between Central and Coastal

I've walked it four times.... my favourite. After many Caminos, I don't walk long drags into and out of cities, except SdC. I metro to Matasinhos on the coast or Vilar de Pinheiro on the central.

visiting from australia. where should we fly into

I highly recommend Korean and Asiana airlines. Leave Australia early morning, land Incheon late afternoon. Taken to great hotel, buffet dinner and breakfast then return to airport for middle of the day flights to European destinations. Excellent service with the bonus of no jet lag….

    Topo Wearers!

Topo Terradventures are sooo comfortable on a number of levels. They do have a tendency to fray after a while around the top where your foot goes in and out so look a bit scruffy, but then, you’ve worked hard! However they are my number 2 choice when walking. I cannot fault Teva hurricane xlt2...

Into Baiona - Litoral or Coastal?

I’ve walked both. The beauty of the blue up-and-over route is that you walk along Roman roads with the grooves carved by the chariot wheels. So much history, and you can, if you stand still and close your eyes, ‘feel’ the energy and presence of those who have passed this way for centuries before...

    Alsa bus bookings in 2024

For those who have been trying to access seat reservations, Alsa bookings are now available until at least, from my experience, the end of May.

Luggage delivery between Litoral and Central routes

Pilbeo is excellent. The website says currently closed I think Jesus takes time out at this time of year.

LIVE from the Camino @TiedyeAT on the Camino Francés

The images and energy aroused by your wonderful writing are deeply moving. I was floating in the way your carefully selected words and finely crafted sentence construction brought this deeply ingrained stretch of the Frances, filled with so many memories, right into my very soul. Thank you. 👣👣

Legal Changes Coming for Spanish Accommodations

As an adjunct, in Australia there’s a rapidly growing push to become a cashless society which is causing great concern. A recent 12 hour outage by a major telco threw commerce amongst other things into chaos and highlighted the dangers of such a policy. Fewer and fewer people here pay with cash….

    We simply have to confess…. We’re addicted…. 😉

Coming to the Camino Frances, a flood of tour groups

There were definitely large groups (40 and 30) booking in hostels when I walked this year in the Fromista area. They were in close proximity and causing issues for others. Delightful people, definitely walking, most all day, with support vehicle.

    The joy of victory!

I was lucky enough to be there in Stadium Australia to see the win. Spain, particularly in the first half, were an absolute joy to watch. Lots could be said about many things in this match but the better team won on the night. Drove the long way home thinking of so much joy being felt all over...

    Caminha Ferry......

Thank you so much for your response and information, jolb.

    Caminha Ferry......

I know there is a ferry regularly crossing the Minho at Caminha now. However, one of the most fondly remembered experiences of my 2017 Portuguese Camino was crossing the river mouth with 'the Captain' in a small tinny enveloped in the surreal early morning mist. Walking to Aguarda along the...
