A very wet day on the Camino Frances!

Get a good quality waterproof poncho - ideal for such conditions (even though it won't solve the wet feet issue

    Walking poles on flight

They're not allowed in the cabin and will be confiscated at security if you try. You have to check them in as hold baggage which is crazy expensive at an airport. Next time I'm leaving mine at home and will buy a cheap one at St Jean PdP of Pamplona and leave it at Santiago (I only use one on...

Advice please - Norte or CF or??

Hey Austin! Don't miss out the Pyrenees!!! Plan day 1 St Jean to view-rich Orisson, day 2 Orisson to historical Roncesvalles and day 3 R/v to gentle relaxing Espinal (couple of good Alberges there). Take it steady, enjoy the fabulous country and just let the Camino soak into you. (I did...

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Helping cafes, bars, albergues and Camino businesses during COVID shutdown

And it should be remembered that in the history of pilgrimage how many fell sick and were taken in by the monasteries, hospitals (original meaning), and were looked after by the monks, nuns and many other people who showed great compassion - often at great personal cost. Remember the monuments...

    March 2020

Start some training walks TODAY and every day until you leave. Don't overdo the first longish haul to Roncesvalles. Walk 55 minutes, rest for 5. Have a great camino!

Check out Scotrail Glasgow to Euston then Eurostar from St Pancras to Hendaye (through ticket) then onwards (not sure how). returning from Santiago is a pain unless you fly

    Have you been sponsored?

Three of my pals (Steve, Jeni and Hamish) walked the camino in 2017 raising money for M.E. Research. Check out their blog at https://iwouldwalk500miles.org/camino-2017/
