    The Cathar Trail.

No, I didn’t. But I walked the Piemont to SJPDP. (with slight variation, that we went over Somport Pass and connected to Spanish Aragon Camino. The Piedmont Camino is very scenic, more physically challenging than Le Puy Camino (also walked this from Le Puy to SJPDP). Personally I prefer Le...

Start walking from Carcassonne on Sept. 2, 2017.

From the Camino Pilgrim website: “From Carcassonne to St-Jean-Pied-de-Port you are on the GR78A or GR78, well waymarked throughout with the familiar red and white bars of the GR long distance paths. If you are continuing to Hendaye/Irún, there is a choice of routes, two only occasionally...

LIVE from the Camino WOW what a different Le Puy, and I like it!!!

I made an error in my previous post. I walked the entire Le Puy route from Le Puy to SJPDP in 2016. Then in 2017, I walked the Piémont route from Carcarsson to Oloron St Marie, from there, walked south, crossed Somport to Java in Spain and continued on to connect with the French way. Because...

LIVE from the Camino WOW what a different Le Puy, and I like it!!!

Looking forward to reading your journal. Le Puy is probably our favorite Camino, full of diversity in so many ways. Piémont is also a great route, more elevation, more solitude. Walked from Carcasonne to Lourdes 4 years ago (then we walked south to the Spanish route). In a month (assume...

Advice on spending night in Bordeaux or continue to SJPP?

If you have the time, it’s worthwhile spending a night in both Bordeaux and SJPDP for different reasons. Bordeaux is a lovely city. SJPDP is a pilgrim/hikers mecca.

LIVE from the Camino Via Geneva and Le Puy en Velay

Hope to walk this route someday (had walked from Le Puy to SJPDP a few years ago). Via Geneva is a challenging route, but I read that scenery is amazing - can’t beat the mountain scenes and solitude.

    The Cathar Trail.

Want to walk this in Sept. 2020. The English guidebook is discontinued. Found many French websites with good information... wondering if anyone has walked this trail lately that I can ask questions?

Starting in Lourdes - Aragonés or Piemont?

We walked both the Piémont and the Aragonès from Lourdes. They are very different... In my opinion, Piémont is greener (which could mean wetter/more rain), better accommodations and food, more manicured villages and towns and village markets if you happen to be there on market days... Aragonès...

Advice on coastal route from Porto versus internal route

We walked the coastal route from Porto, followed the directions you outlined, crossed the river at Caminha, continued to pass Vigo, and joined the real “costal route” at Redondefa, Pontevedra, Padron, etc. Highly recommended, scenic.

    Anyone starting the same date?

Best accommodation guide book for the Piemont Route

No camping, please. Like to have a MMDO type of guidebook with plenty of information for chambre d'hôtes, hotels, gates, etc.

Breakfast & dinner time at Chambres d'hôtes Le Puy

We booked chambres d'hôtes for most of our stays, demi pension, private room. For breakfast and dinner, is it usually served at set time, for all guests come and eat together? Or, is it served at the time of our request (within reasonable time of course)?

    Pillow case

Along the Le Puy route, I have reserved private rooms with "le Draps" included in the price. Is it still necessary to bring my own pillow case?
