I have walked enough that I know most of my feet's sensitive areas. I use "MeFix" ("Hypafix" is similar) tape as a preventative on one or two areas. It can easily be removed at the end of the day in the shower. I also use "HikeGoo" between my big toe and adjacent areas. Also a smear of that...
Check the ALSA bus schedule at alsa.com -- there is also an ALSA app for phones. So far as I know, there's only one bus per day from Pamplona to Saint Jean Pied de Port and that's in the early afternoon. I chose a future day (August 18th) and found a 14:30 bus. Typically you can only search...
I wear polypro boxers and simply wear those to the shower. Often, I'll drop them on the shower floor to give them a quick wash underfoot and put on a dry clean pair afterwards.
My experiences are from 2017 and I was surprised that there were not nearly as many places to stop for "second breakfast". I would estimate that we had this meal perhaps half of the days. Still, the vdlp was an amazing journey.
My cousin and I walked VDLP in 2017 and had a similar or lesser Spanish "skillset". I was initially planning on walking by myself but was glad to have a companion. It went fairly smoothly. We did have two encounters with livestock dogs and I would not want to do that by myself.

HOWEVER, they are consistently forbidden as carry-ons in Santiago so either discard, put them in checked baggage or send home by mail. There is...
I love my Exos 48 - but in a store recently and there are major changes to that model. No longer has zipper pockets on the waist belt and the design of the belt tightening has changed (to the worse). Another problem for me is that it's too long for current carry on bags - backpack is 60cm+ and...
This is such a great suggestion! We walked del Norte (finishing June 10th) and were shocked at the number of walkers and crowds beginning at Arzua -- do anything you can do to keep off of the France route until the last minute!
We will travel Madrid to Pamplona on September 18th by train (arriving 10:38am) and then on to SJPP by bus or taxi.
Anyone wishing to share a taxi from Pamplona to SJPP on September 18th?
We will start the Camino on the 19th.
