Yes but if you are starting in SJPP I'd wait and get an Altus at the trekking shop opposite the pilgrim office. That's what I did and I never regretted it. I have been home 2 years now and I STILL love and use my Altus regularly
We got our SIM card from a large dept store in Pamplona. Can't remember what plan exactly but it was from Orange. Might have been the ballena (whale) plan (pay as you go after initial purchase, fairly inexpensive) but really can't remember We were able to top up as needed from almost any atm...
We stay at a private albergue in Larransona .... Pension Tau I believe, in a private townhouse. Patio deck out back with a BBQ for your use as well if I remember correctly, lovely home, private bedroom with a gorgeous queen sized bed and comforter (felt like home or a fancy hotel) in a private...
spray or not to spray ... we didn't but we did have some spray with us that we bought in SJPP ... we did not use it and never saw a bedbug. We did not however stay in too many municipal albergues ... I had a terrible bronchial infection that cause me to cough uncontrollably all night, every...
We stayed here and it remains one of the highlights of our trip. Wonderful people ... had a delicious communal meal too, I still remember the garlic soup ... one of the best meals we had on the Camino. Highly recommended. They speak several languages as well including Hungarian
Nope and I am still wondering if they know how to make potatoes into anything other than french fries ... and other than pickled asparagus and pickled peppers not much on the vegetable side either, in fact I'm not sure we ever saw "fresh" veggies on the menu except for maybe a few in the daily...
Sorry I was away for a few weeks and missed you question ... when I say main building I mean the main albergue building where the post office can be found .. and no we did not use a service the nice lady at the postal counter had boxes available for assembly to use. They were strong and a decent...
We packed all our unnecessary items into the duffle we used to bring our poles through checked luggage on the plane and forwarded it to Roncesvalles via Jacotrans baggage transport ...once in Roncesvalles we broke it down and sent 2 boxes to Ivar in Santiago via the nice postal lady in the main...
Went in May/June of last year and took a silk liner and a 500g one season sleeping bag ... used the liner once or twice .. same for the sleeping bag rarely used both together ... never saw a single bedbug or any sign of one. We stayed mostly in private albergues but occassionally did the dorm...
I uploaded all my pics daily to FB via whatever wifi I could find ... once I knew they were secure I stopped worrying about what would happen if I lost the ones on my phone ... if I ran out of space I deleted earlier photos .. knowing I had a backup online. As for jewelry I didn't take any but I...
I' recommend starting in Roncesvalles and just walk til you have to stop ...then make your way home .... If you walk again you can start where you left off .... It is quite a pretty stretch and quite a varied experience as well. Lots of folks do the Camino in stages especially if they live close...
A lovely German lady on my Camino accidentally sent all her money ahead to roncesvalles in her bag. She was planning to stay in Orrison and was justifiably very worried .... The good people at jacotrans tracked down her bag and delivered it back to her with all her valuables as we were eating...
We walked last year may/ jun from SJPP to Torres del Rio where we had to call it due to illness but for that stretch we had no trouble at all. All the dogs we saw were either friendly or restrained on their property if not friendly. That said I am sure it could happen as there are stray dogs but...
We did it by bus ... But had no time restriction ... Make sure that whatever schedule you use ... that the schedule is valid for the DAY you want .... We found the schedule for the bus from Burgos to Santiago was DAY specific .... And every day was different ...
