    Chinese shops???

These shops are great for souvenirs - like embroidered dish towels or coffee mugs in fun colors.

Shirley Maclaine - The Camino - Swimming place

She writes things that didn’t actually happen. Like having her feet washed when she got to the pilgrims office in the cathedral. I’ve researched that to no end and not found anybody who either saw that or experienced that. I enjoyed the book - but with a grain of salt. Could be just at another...

    Trainline and registering!

Be careful using Trainline. Renfe may not change your ticket if you want to take either an earlier or a later train. If you buy it from Trainline, you have to negotiate with them - which might not be all that easy if you’re at a station just wanting to rearrange your ticket.

Menu del dia - options to customize?

Anything on the Menú is available to order. If you just want the pasta, just order the pasta. As for the salad, you can simply say “no tuna, please.”

Favorite Pilgrimage Memoir *Not* Set on the Camino Francés?

“Paris to the Pyrenees” by David Downie. It’s my favorite pilgrimage memoir.

Name of archway to entrance to Praza Obradoiro?

Just a footnote. Archbishop Diego Xelmirez didn’t build that Pazo, which is now part of the cathedral museum. It went up about a century after him.

I’ve done that route several times in December. It’s blissfully quiet. And safe.
