How much do You stretch each day?

I did these stretches with the video after every walk when training for the Camino. I’d intended to also do them while on the Camino but I didn’t really. Though I did do a variation of some of the stretches every night while lying in bed, as they’re all doable even while in a top bunk!

Is 1 hr 15 min layover sufficient at Frankfurt airport for connecting flight to Biarritz with Lufthansa?

Frankfurt airport is quite large and there are several terminals so you may need to transfer to a different terminal, which is done by shuttle bus, if I remember correctly. I live in Canada and we often travel to Spain (other parts) and have had very harried transits through Frankfurt when we...

    Pyrenees difficulty

I did my first Camino (at 59 going on 60) in May-June, Francés from SJPP to Santiago. If you’re in good shape it is definitely doable to walk through to Roncesvalles and I know I could have gone beyond, especially with the nervous energy of the new experience. But I was glad I had heeded the...

    Preparing Chestnuts

I don’t know but pretty sure Google knows! :) As that old chestnut goes (or will go ha): I don’t know but pretty sure Google knows. :)

    My only regret walking

I found the members of our local Company of Pilgrims to be an invaluable resource in planning and also in sharing the excitement before I had actually walked my first Camino this past May-June. I picked everyone’s brains on what to pack and training, and they freely shared their experiences and...

Spending time and money at IKEA so you don't have to!

I missed the 99 cents part. A good deal!

Spending time and money at IKEA so you don't have to!

The phone stand seems like overkill to me. I have a pop top on my phone. Makes it easy to hold and doubles as a stand...

Help from those experienced with a donkey

These appear to be mules, as opposed to donkeys. Different—and bred to be larger—beasts of burden. I met two young (20 somethings) on horseback on my Camino Francés this past May/June and their biggest challenge was finding places that would shelter the horses and also themselves. Not all...

Feedback on packing would be (really) appreciated.

I opted for poncho over jack I opted for poncho (and pack cover) instead of a jacket as it covers the straps of your backpack, which would get soaking wet while wearing a jacket.

    Bottom bunks

I walked the Francés in May/June of this year and a friend joined me from León. Prior to her arrival, I could request a bottom bunk and get one most of the time. However, when we called ahead for two people, we always ended up being assigned the same bunk bed, so one of us had to take the top...

Are the longer Caminos a Sabbatical from marriage for some people?

Having time on my own was certainly the case for me (married 34 years and I had just retired at 59). I didn’t see it as a marriage sabbatical per se, however, I’d always secretly wanted to walk the Camino alone, even though my husband and I had talked of walking it together one day. We have a...

    Warning: Jacotrans

I echo these sentiments. I was about to reply but see this post with exactly what I was going to say re good service and separately run entities of the same company.

Planning 40 Days on the Camino Frances

I started slow, stayed in Orisson (split first “stage”) and still had time to have a rest day in Pamplona and elsewhere in 40 days. My personal recommendation would be to start slower in the Pyrenees and make up time/distance later when you naturally become fitter.

    So long old friend,

Congratulations on your latest and last Camino, and on your contentment. I completed my first Camino this May-June at age 59-going-on-60. Your lovely post is a reminder that time is not always on our side. If not now, then when?
