    What about “té con leche”?😀

Té rojo is my preference when in Spain. Leave the way we drink milk in the UK for when you are in the UK If red isn’t available my second choice is Negra. Third choice is something else entirely. But never coffee, pah, nasty stuff!

What pushed or invited or drew you to set off for 'The Camino'?

For me the reason for attempting the Camino was for a challenge. I’d seen many people walking on my various motorcycle trips to Spain. One day I was in a cafe and saw two very wet, very tired pilgrims and thought to my self…I should try that. About 8 months later I verbalised my plan to my wife...

LIVE from the Camino Damien on the Mozárabe

Another thank you from me for the information and heads-up. We’re flying to Almeria on the 26th of February and plan to start the next day. As posted elsewhere, I’ll be walking and my wife will be cycling. I’ve not booked accommodation in Almeria as yet but will be sure to contact Nely. Keep...

Long pants and long sleeves in summer? Smart or big mistake?

My answer is both. Both long and short sleeves/legs are worth taking. Try and buy clothing that wicks away your sweat and dries very quickly after washing. Merino wool underwear works very well. Take minimal items, wash regular, every day works for me. The quick drying stuff will be dry in an...

"The Vía de la Plata is fairly flat"

On my experience of walking from Seville to just shy of Salamanca, I’d say apart from the bits that went up or the bits that went down that it was completely flat. 🫣 Sorry, someone had to!!

    Refuge Orisson vs. Auberge Borda

Like some of the other responders, I’ve only stayed at Orisson. Just the once on my first Camino back in September 2017. It was my first time in a mixed sex dorm…that was fine. Luckily there were a few blankets to sleep under too. My lack of research meant that I didn’t have a sleeping bag at...

    New cycle path near Huelva.

It’ll probably end in a heap on the floor!

    Bringing your own bike

My experience of taking a bicycle on an aircraft has been fairly straightforward albeit only from the UK to Spain and back. We used a large purpose built cardboard box which costs about £20. This then gets put in a recycling bin before the Camino and we then purchase another from the Spanish...

Which are the “wilder” (least paved, most rural) Spanish routes?

I walked the Via Serrana in 2020. Absolutely superb and yes, no one else out there doing it.

Which are the “wilder” (least paved, most rural) Spanish routes?

I’m hoping that the Mozarabe from Almeria is going to be ‘a path less traveled’ as that’s our next planned route for February/March ‘24.

    Camino Mozarabe bicigrino

Thank you so much. Again, I’ve heard of Wikiloc but never used it. I think you’ve given me the answer and plenty to research. Thanks again.

    Camino Mozarabe bicigrino

I’ve used various guides and apps for my previous walks but Gronze isn’t one of them. I’ll check that out and see if there is bike specific recommendations for route etc. Using Peregrino Online earlier this year on the VdLP there were options for me walking and the other half cycling but they...

    Camino Mozarabe bicigrino

I’d like to get to Finistere. It’ll be the first time on a bike Camino after a few on foot. My partner prefers bicycles to walking boots. I’ll take a look at the link, thank you.

    Camino Mozarabe bicigrino

By the lack of replies to your question I guess that not many people have cycled The Mozarabe from Almeria. I am considering starting from Almeria in March ‘24 and have also found information scarce at best. Back to Google then I guess.

    Pre Camino Frances nerves

Try and go with the flow. Everyone does things differently. If you are late to rise and late to start walking there may be less choice when you reach your days end. My choice is to start at daybreak and enjoy the sun coming up, stop as and when for snacks and try not to stick to the prescribed...
