30 days - from St Jean Pied de Port to Santiago - is it possible without stress?

Five years ago, I met an amazing woman, from Taiwan, who did it in 18 days. She was an ultra-marathoner. If you are in good shape, you can do it in 30 days. At 77, I fell in with a fast group, and did it in 29, but regretted leaving so many friends behind…. Pamplona would be a great choice for...

Which Camino for my 80th year?

I'll be starting in St. John, on May 26. 80 on June 12. I did it last year, and I don't know why I can't do it again.... We just have to slow down as we age---not stop---yet.

    Possible stages on the Invierno

On the Camino Invierno, there is a "don't miss" albergue in Puente de Domingo Flores, Casa Rosa, opened a year or so ago. The hosts are an amazingly wonderful family. Accommodations, food, and hosts are the best!!!

Are you 70+ and still walking Caminos?

Five years ago, I celebrated my 75th on CF. This June, I plan to celebrate my 80th, on my 5th Camino. Last Summer, near Santiago, I met an 86-year-old Frenchman who started his 1st Camino in Le Puy, 2 1/2 months earlier. He had averaged about 13 miles(21 km) a day. My new hero!

Hi all, first Camino Frances Aug 31st

On June 30, We had planned to catch a bus from the Madrid airport---as I had done 3 times previously---to Pamplona and on to SJPP. We learned that Covid is messing with the buses, as well. We ended up taking the train from Madrid to Pamplona, and riding with friends to SJPP. They had made...

My August 2021 Invierno: Thoughts, Observations, Notes

In July, I took a brief break from the Camino Frances, to spend a few days on the Invierno. Wow, what spectacular sights! And, one of the greatest albergues---Casa Rosa, in Puente de Domingo Flores! Dace and Agris(and their children) were wonderful hosts in their home/albergue. The food was...

Which Camino for my 80th year?

I, too, celebrated my 77th on the Frances in 2019. Currently in Molinaseca and hoping to return to celebrate my 80th next year. For me, nothing beats the Frances.

    Any pilgrims for summer 2021.

I fly to Madrid, where I catch the bus to Pamplona and on to St. Jean PdP. I understand that masks are required on the bus. My flight from Portland, OR to Madrid in June 29---hopefully.

Which Camino for my 80th year?

Starting in 2017, I celebrated my 75th, 76th, and 77th birthdays doing the CF from SJPP. In 2018, I did parts of the Portuguese Coastal. I was alone, and I found the PC to have much less infrastructure(bars, etc.) and few pilgrims---entirely different from the CF. Pretty scenery along parts...

    Incognito Celebrities on the Camino

In 2018(?), I had a brief encounter with a fellow that I thought to be a very nice fellow---one who I hoped to know better. Unfortunately, our stops didn't coordinate. Later, I learned that he was Hammond Peek, a New Zealandor, winner of two Oscars, and nominated for two more. He was a sound...
