Have you tried texting instead of calling on WhatsApp? When I need to reach hotels or pensions in Spain I text them on WhatsApp and normally receive a prompt reply. -
Me too, Chrissy! We often find ourselves doing that ... even in non-Camino settings. Once a pilgrim ... If the bar person notices, it's usually met with either a thank you (in words or a nod) - or a (bemused) smile.😍

Some of us find that it isn't long before the eyes of friends and family start to glaze over when you try and share your heaps of stories. That's where forums like this, or local pilgrim groups, come in.
