    Rolls are reversed in our house, my husband for the same reason as your wife stays at home. His duties of care also include looking after my dog and keeping an eye on my bees!!

    How well is The Norte marked?

    It's certainly not as well marked as the CF and you will need to look out for signs, but I found it manageable.

    No it's not allowed. If you have a rucksack liner you could take that up with you.

    I started my last Camino on my own. The first day was the only day I walked on my own, even then I had company on and off. That evening I dined with new friends and although these friends change from time to time I never walked on my own.

    Yes I cut some socks up. Put some elastic in one end, if you are using cuff end. Perfect.

    Weight, and how its discussion is terrifying me.

    If it helps I am 5'6", female of average weight, fit for my age, I'm 66, and carry about 7kgs ( about 15.5lbs old money) with water, and have never struggled with the weight.
