I tried ringing with no success. So I sent a text to the number on the Wise Pilgrim app

    Fantastic albergue near casa fernandes

I agree. Just returned and it was lovely. You forgot to mention the homegrown olive oil and the pond full of noisy frogs! (Didn’t hear back from Casa Fernanda when I messaged them).

    Mileage tracker

MapMyRun has worked for me. I set it to walk mode, and for it to announce 5k intervals. It provides a nice summary of all my walks

Super Paranoid....Can i REALLY Do This?

You absolutely can do it!! I bet that when you were walking on the treadmill you didn’t have the ever-changing scenery, the mountains , rivers, flora and fauna, and company to distract you. You weren’t walking with poles, you didn’t stop for a coffee, and then for an orange juice and a bite for...

Wide-fit, Gore-tex, trail running shoes for women?

Brooks Cascadia. I’ve worn them in torrential rain as well as in 40deg heat this summer. No problems.

    Unusual places to collect sellos/stamps

Not really a sello (or tampon). We stopped at an artist’s studio where he painted a picture in our passport.

Packing List : What to sleep in and on ?

I take a large thin cotton scarf which serves several purposes, including pillow case, bunk bed curtain, sun shield, fashion accessory 😀. Controversially I also take lightweight pyjamas, for modesty as I can also feel confined in a sleeping bag liner and quite often wriggle out of it. I like to...

    Advice on Heat

As you have your accommodation booked ahead, I would recommend having your backpacks sent ahead whilst it’s so hot. We have just reached Finisterre, and it has been hot!! After a couple of days enduring high temperatures, we decided not to be heroes and had our rucksacks transported - it made...

Walking only "sections" (some stages) of the Camino

We walked Bilbao to Santander. Easy to do in 6 or 7 days, and both ends of the walk served by airports. A beautiful walk, and we will return for another stretch when we have time.

Advice please? (Getting from UK to Castrojeriz)

I think the bus is earlier on a Saturday, so if you’re travelling over 2 days that would also work.

Advice please? (Getting from UK to Castrojeriz)

We have done this so it’s possible. It’s a day’s travelling, but that’s part of the adventure! Catch an early morning flight to Madrid. From Madrid airport book an Alsa bus to Burgos (2 hr 30 min). From Burgos you catch the Autobús Amaya to Castrojeriz (about 50 mins). There’s just one bus a...

    Pilgrimage, another series on BBC2

I was going to give this a miss, but watched it and actually found it quite entertaining. So much so that I watched 2 episodes back to back. I enjoyed watching the dynamics within a diverse group of people. For me, this is part of the draw of the Camino? It was also interesting to learn about...
