Should I bring my own Mercado bag?

Not sure if it's on everyone's packing lists but I loved have a smaller bag. Similar to previous comment..I used it for grocery shopping and to hold food and also sometimes walking around in the evenings to carry my Brierley book or my sunglasses or whatever. I have a Sea to Summit one like this...

What exercises to do to strengthen lower back?

I like the idea of finding a physical therapist for specific exercises. Just my own experience.. I have pretty mild scoliosis and yoga has gotten rid of my lower back pain. Child's pose, cat/cows, a gentle low cobra feel really positive for me.

    Electrolytes

I miss cerveza con limon and Aquarius. I actually brought some Nuun tablets last time. Because the thirst can feel kind of continual!

Posting Luggage in France/Luggage storage service in SJPP?

I used Nannybag to leave my bag in Lyon. It worked ok? I was a little nervous leaving it in a small alimentation générale but I got it back. One small hiccup was they closed randomly the morning I tried to retrieve it. I got in late-ish the night before and had a brief window to catch a train...

    Too soon to second Camino?

I'd say it's not too soon as well. I think the time opportunity you have is compelling. Everyone's different of course. In terms of spacing them out, as it makes sense to you? Each time it takes me a few days to settle into the experience mentally. I came out of the Camino Francés discovering...

Is 42 days for SJPDP to Finisterre too long?

You'll be fine! There's some uncertainty but you'll find the rhythm of it. I did 36 to Santiago (33 stages + 2 rest days and a little day). The Brierley says 3 stages to Finisterre which could easily be 4. Plus a rest day in Santiago. That'd be 41 right there. I didn't meet anyone in a rush to...

Notes from a newbie on my Camino Portugues

I loved the Portugués and found a lot of clues about the how/why and symbolism around caminos in the last handful of days. If you're into the history and sites consider visiting La Peregrina in Pontevedra, the Variante Espiritual, boat ride to Padrón, Padrón itself, Albergue Cruces De Iria in...

GR221 (Ruta De Pedra En Sec / The Dry Stone Route) - Mallorca

I'd be curious to hear impressions as well! I might go at it next summer. Not sure how it came on my radar even. I did the TMB and also saw Andrew from Knife Edge Outdoors has a GR221 guidebook.

Portugal will reinforce surveillance on the Camino de Santiago for acts of exhibitionism

I'm glad somethings being done at least. Hoping this kind of thing is rare but there were several moments however in Portugal (2019) where I noticed guys alone in cars parked up to or near the camino. There could be innocent explanations like a worker taking a break, making a phone call, etc but...

Nasbinals - Hotel La Route d’Argent bait and switch

I had a fabulous time on the Le Puy route this May and June in spite of a few hiccups. I don't want to get negative here but maybe someone can help me think about a situation in Nasbinals that didn't seem right. As pilgrims, we're used to being flexible and adaptable to new people, towns...

Posting Luggage in France/Luggage storage service in SJPP?

Curious about this as well. Currently considering luggage storage in Lyon and returning for it. I had success with 'poste resante' on the Haute Route mailing a bag to myself from Chamonix France to Zermatt Switzerland but it was a backpack under 5kg I think.

Is Zpacks Vertice rain jacket worth the investment for ultralight hikers?

I have the Zpacks rain pants. Not cheap but they work great and couldn't be lighter. I love they have them in different lengths.

When do most pilgrims feel like quitting the Camino de Santiago?

Was also thinking about what Kiwi-family posted. Many people on here have done more than one walk so we might be missing why people decide it's not for them. It was my understanding a fair number of people do stop and abandon the Francés. Is that true? Perhaps as many as a 1/3 from SJPP? I...

Vegetarian foods in non vegetarian restaurants

I'm pescaterian so I leaned on ensaladas mixtas and bocadillos vegetal. I've found the Happy Cow app useful if anyone isn't familiar with it.

    The Two "Chickentown" Paradores

The Parador de Santiago de Compostela is great. I can't speak to the two in Santo Domingo but I met a friend briefly in the lobby of the Parador de Santo Domino de la Calzada (the more central one?) and it seemed very lush. Consider looking into a visit of the Parador in Santiago? They have a...
